Imagine this…
What if Mechs had only one Armor and structure line; the sum of all components added together.
To represent to vulnerability of XL and Light Engines, total structure points will be adjusted based on the Engine type carried.

Standard = 100% of Structure
Clan XL and IS Light = 75% of Structure
IS XL = 50% of Structure

Now to keep accuracy and twisting important, the damage taken depends on where the shot entered the mech.

Arms = 80% of Damage
Legs = 85% of Damage
Side Torso = 90% of Damage
Center = 100% of Damage
Rear Torsos = 120% of adjusted Damage

While this makes the game more arcade like, would it help reduce TTK and the penalty of certain mech designs based on their hit boxes.

Just a random idea.

Thanks

So basically like Armored Core, but with a twist? I seriously dunno if it will make things better or worse, but at this stage it is impossible to change the game like that.

Wouldn't be Mechwarrior anymore, to me anyway. The current system is one of the defining attributes of the franchise IMO.

we need to increase ttk not decrease it son. Also the whole point of mechwarrior is that mechs had components to them, arms legs etc. We need high heat and cooldowns for weapons and mate ct smaller thall increase ttk Posted Image

Question- doesn't this just work out to giving every component roughly the same HP pool? If so, why not just give every component the same HP pool, rather than make the system more convoluted by requiring players to memorize all those modifiers?

...and wouldn't that just result in the 'Mechs with the best hitboxes becoming even more entrenched in the meta than they already are, since they'd see a much greater improvement in proportion to the amount of fire soaked by their sides and arms? 'Mechs with bad hitboxes already get CT'd more often, and would derive little to no benefit from a buff to any other location.

I kinda like things as they are. Having components that each have their own health is sort of one of the unique features of MWO.
