If you want a weapon to complain about in Solaris, complain about Flamers. There's a weapon system that drains the fun from a match, for participants and spectators.

Wouldn't HGR boats be kinda meh about it? Not like a Gauss-toter would really care considering how little heat they generate.

You're using them differently than whats discussed here. Its more about the mechs with a lot of missile hardpoints that boat rockets. You can have up to a 360 point single shot alpha that can one shot any mech even from the front, not very useful in a 12v12 but can be hilarious in a 1v1

HGR Mechs are relatively safe. So are several other build types that are the meta anyway. But they kill a lot of builds that weren't great to begin with right off the bat, in the dumbest way possible.
And really, they just are not fun. Flamer joisting is the latest thing in MWO, hands down.

Flamers will be a big issue in Solaris for certain. Rockets can also be an issue, although less of one, on mechs that can load up on ballistics / energy as the primary and rockets for a cheap opening shot at the 150-200 meter mark. Bushwackers will be an amazing dueling mech for certain.

I disagree about flamers. With only 1 of them, they're not significant enough to matter at all, and with 2 or more, you're heating yourself up significantly with still only a *hope* of shutting your opponent down. Like with rockets, part of the strength of flamers is catching an opponent unaware that you're using them. In 1v1, if your opponent knows how to turn on chain fire, they can still benefit from full cooling between 90% and 100%, since the flamer does almost nothing to the target beyond 90%. They can also still coolant flush to alpha you if a good opportunity presents itself. Also, if you keep your flamers on much longer than about 6 of every 12 seconds, you're going to heat yourself up significantly *more* than your opponent, due to flamer heat scale.

First, you boat flamers. No one every takes a single one. A fully kitted out Flamer boat will drive an enemy mech to 90% pretty much immediately, and it will have the appropriate weapon suite to deal with its own heat (Which, is much less severe than what they're doing to their enemies).
Second, the goal isn't so much to shut the enemy down, but to stun lock them. Keeping them at 90% pretty much ensures that, sans Gauss Rifles. Chain firing can keep a flamered mech active, but it isn't going to do anything meaningful, and its unlikely to do as much damage as the Flamer carrying mech can do in the same time frame.
Third, no Coolant Flushes in Solaris.
