PGI adopted a bad habit of drastically changing previously showed concept art placed in preorder page and final 3D model for shipping. Black lanner, Sun spider, who is next? Way to go to "encourage" preordering.

Glad I didn't pre-order it then.
Also, did you notice there are no perks posted until after release these days?

Quirks are being released within the countdown to release. Compare the last release: https://mwomercs.com...e-black-lanner/

It's a Clan mech, so expect very few quirks.
The key stat - acceleration and the linked turn rates - is the biggest question mark.
It looks like it should have at least a 30 or 32.

I believe the biggest Issue with the "inflation" is the angle in which the Mech is shown in the concept art. For example the Black Lanner, the most recent Mech to have gained some weight. If you turn it just in the right angle in the MechLab it looks almost as slim as in the concept art.

Its still no excuse for getting that much bigger than what people expect. I think they should show at least some more angles of concept art on the sale page so you can make an educated decision on buying.

First which came to mind was that some NKVA "artist" managed to hack the post.

Orthos would be nice and it's not like we haven't had that in the past.

I won an ultimate mech pack by winning the brethre. charity free for all, and i picked this mech pack.

I am STOKED! Loadouts and speed etc look legit.

I hope it doesnt end up squishy, but i dont think it will be. We will see.

Clans have needed a solid 70 tonner.

So in this countdown, what is the schedule?

Cockpits shots, scaling, in game video?

Comment on the "Spiders web" badge:
Sun spiders are not actually spiders and don't make webs... I suspect you failed to consult your resident biologist.

but but but it identifies itself as a spider, it might not be a spider but consider its decision to identify itself as a spider

Yeah, we had this argument with every new release. Every 3D image is going to look more plump than the 2D art because it's not flat. Can you imagine how many people would cry foul if a 70 tone mech was skinnier than the 60 ton Mad Dog?

Damn, I'm so disappointed now. My favorite mech design, shame it received wider legs. Hope PGI reconsider it and return to Schematics state.

I see there are some concerns about the shape of the Sun Spider.

First off, while I always view the concept art as our promise to you of what the final product should look like, it is also still a concept. Sometimes things just can't translate into 3d the same way. Sometimes, once it's been made in 3d, it becomes obvious that adjustments need to be made; In the Sun Spider's case, Alex and I both agreed that the legs should be wider than the concept art or orthos depicted.

Another thing that changes later on in development is the mech's stance, especially on mechs with backwards knees. Animation and Scale can both dictate how high the pelvis sits off the ground, both while standing still and walking.

I've also made you some comparison images. Again, my view is that the concept image is the one we present to you, and thus tends to override orthographic depictions when they deviate.

I know this question is pretty loaded, but gonna ask anyway.

Why don't newer 'mechs come with camo patterns for the newer factions in the game? Such as Steel Viper, Nova Cat, and Diamond Shark?

Please don't think we are all dissatisfied. I suspect most of us are going to wait and try it out before making judgements!

Still love the design of the Mech and the versatility of the different variants. I think it will be a great addition to the game, as a 70 tonner. It might even replace the Mad Dog as my favorite Mech. Can't wait to take a look into the cockpit and try it out.

And its really good to finally have a totally new Mech design, as with the Roughneck. I really appreciate the work.

I wasn't a huge fan of the concept art, so I think the 3D model is actually an improvement. A (sun) spider is supposed to be somewhat low slung, bulbous and stalky.

Don't forget a proper spider is a quad mech on each side!

Even though it resembles a Locust to me. It's 70 tons, so it's going to be big. I don't know why you'd expect otherwise.
