Hello.

As you might know, there is curently a MRBC "Ready Up" Sale going on:
https://mwomercs.com...cky-charms-2018

According to the event description, this sale is supposed to help people get ready for the faction play part of the event.

Which of the mechs on sale would you get and how would you build them?

Of course, most people are going to jump into the scouting portion of FP for phase 2 of the event,
but let's help out the new players and assume we're just starting out and have an interest in both scouting and invasion.

Looking for Faction Play only (otherwise I would have posted in the comp subforum).
Getting information for both IS and CLAN would be great.

There's a similar thread in the battlemech subforum btw:

The MRBC sale is for people to get ready for MRBC (Comp).

Not faction play.

Most of the mechs, if you read the Faction Play Training thread, already have builds for them in there that are decent.

The training thread is great. And large. And full of information. Lots of information.
I had hoped we could get that info in a form which is easier to digest.

To be honest: I'm not sure.

That info would be very usefull, but probably get buried in a short while.
Just look at this thread: 7 posts and we didn't even get to the actual info yet. Posted Image
The training thread unfortunably has a similarly high noise to signal ratio.

Maybe making a new thread on general FP builds and opening that one with a post on builds for mechs which are currently on sale would be more productive? (then I could get this here thread closed)

Edit:
Such info was a lot easier to look up when metamechs used to update more regularly.

denAir has made a spreadsheet.
Magic Pain Glove has made one in the IS sub-section as well.

That should cover it on top of the training thread.

Indeed, this one:

A great resource, although a bit short on what reasoning went into each variant/build.

Not to hard to set a pretty solid priority list from this sale IMO. I'm no expert but even I can see a pretty clear path.

Clan side:
Hellbringer HBR-A
Ebon Jaguar EBJ-B
Linebacker LBK-PRIME
Marauder IIC MAD-IIC
Hunchback IIC HBK-IIC-A
Summoner SMN-F
Mad Cat MCII-B
Arctic Wolf ACW-1
Mist Lynx MLX-G
Arctic Cheetah ACH-E
Huntsman HMN-P

IS side:
Cyclops CP-10-Q
Warhammer WHM-6R
Battlemaster BLR-1G
Assassin ASN-23
Annihilator ANH-2A
Victor VTR-9S
Dragon DRG-5N
Roughneck RGH-3A

Probably missed a few things and the order may not be perfect but it's the priority I've personally been using at least.

Clan 65t mechs being first I agree with as they're very usefull for all the heavy/heavy/heavy/med decks.
Many people seem to prefer the Mad Cat MCII-B (dakka boat) over the Summoner SMN-F (PPC sniper) though.

One notable missing variant for IS is the BSW-P1 (boating SRMs), which is used in scouting or the WHM/WHM/WHM/BSW deck.
Cyclops (SRM/MRM) being first for IS strikes me as odd - usually people tend to recommend the WHM (mid range lasers/dakka) and BLR (long range lasers) over it.

It would be great if you could provide a few sentences on the reasoning that went into that list, e.g. what makes an Arctic Cheetah more desirable than a Huntsman?

The list I gave is largely based on the loadouts of the groups I've been running with and how often I've seen specific strategies (and thus specific mechs) come up. For instance, I noticed I was almost never bringing my Huntsman in Invasion decks but I frequently would use my Cheetah when I had nothing else to fill out my deck (and couldn't ton up/down the other three mechs). Of course, I also already own three Huntsmen so I don't need one for Scouting. If you need a scouting mech more than a fits-anywhere light mech, the Huntsman obviously takes priority.

IS side got a bit shafted in terms of priority faction play mechs in this sale IMO. Yeah, the 6R and 1G are great but they're also relatively niche mechs in my experience. Typically when I've dropped with IS units they tend to drop more brawly setups rather than trading ones, which is why I put the Cyclops as higher priority. While also not an every-match mech, I've found myself bringing a Cyclops to a large portion of my drops, whereas my 5ERLL WHM-7S (or BLR-1G, if I had one) rarely gets played outside of Polar Highlands and occasionally Boreal Vault. The 6R can of course brawl with LBX10s/20s if you wanted to, but typically I've seen it as a midrange Gauss or UAC10-vomit mech, which while it certainly has a place in your average deck is not something I've brought in the majority of my IS drops. My closest analog is my Gauss-vomit RFL-3N which sees a good amount of play but not as much as my brawlier mechs.

Realistically though this is my priority list, made according to what I personally need. I think it's a relatively good starting point, but it certainly would benefit from tailoring to a person's specific dropdeck needs. IE, if you're lacking long ranged Clan mechs you're going to want to prioritize the HBR and SMN over the MCII, but if you need more dakka for hotter maps you'd rather the MCII be your priority.

IS can trade fine, if not better, than Clan - provided you know what you are doing and pick the right mechs/loadouts.

Problem is most units have a skill gap and the only way they see to reduce it is to brawl. The problem with that is they don't brawl properly. They zerg rush in one by one and a good trading team will have killed 2-4 of them before the brawl even reaches because they don't rotate armour.

By that point the wave is lost.
