I love Plog's and David's art work but why PGI? Why? What's with the affinity of the inverted footing? It's like one giant HOOF.

Oh look - another thing we know to be both OP and DOA even though it's not released yet. Posted Image Posted Image

60t, mostly missile STs, other weapons in arms... we'll have to see how it compares to the Mad Dog (Vulture).

Better that than have them go the Uziel's route and just don't animate one of the joints completely Posted Image

Woo, this should be a good one. The arms are a little knuckle-drag-y, but the torso mounts should be cash. I imagine it won't get any quirks, though, so it probably won't be as good as a missile boat as the MDD. It'll have some nice mixed builds, though. Definitely gonna give the one with a Ballistic torso a lot of playtime.

I think some people are missing that this is a battlemech and that most of it's variants have a engine cap of 360. So slow is not accurate.

Another Clan Battlemech -- really?

I get that it's awesome and all, but it's going to be another Clan ringer.

It should get some quirkage. Name of the game.

Esp with those super isolated missile torsos

Looks sorta like it will be a battlemech version of the Mad Dog. Its stuck with the laser+missile combo, low gorilla arm mounts, and a high mounted cockpit. So pretty much no meta laser+ballistic combos here, no meta hill poking with lasers or ERPPCs, and no meta missile+ballistic brawlers.

Basically Mad Dog that you can put endo and ferro on and downgrade the engine for a bit more tonnage and then throw MASC on if you felt like it. Doubting it would have Mad Dog tier quirks though.

I'm going to just rule it out as being meta, but say that it is decent and could likely run a nice dual ATM12 build with 6 lasers backing it up on the HLF-1 and get some hill peeking in with the high cockpit to get ATM locks. If missiles ever get a buff so that things other than the ATM in its sweet spot can compete with lasers then it would be a powerhouse.

EDIT: looking at the artwork a bit more closely, the hitboxes seem to be utter trash. Its very wide with low height, a recipe for easy to target torso sections. However, if they set the hitboxes up similar to how the Dragon is currently then it could be decent, though the Dragon also has massive durability quirks to further its durability.

its a battlemech that makes it automatically better than the vulture

unless it gets some major flaw in its scaling or geometry

You do realize there are a whole lot of Bad clan mechs too right? They might not be as bad as some of the worst IS mechs but there are a ton that below average to average at best.

As for this one, I have concerns about the hitpoints. Mech looks sexy as hell and all but those STs make the Sun Spiders torso like tiny by comparison. That being the case, I doubt this mechs goes beyond being run of the mill average unless PGI does crazy armor/structure quirking and we all know PGI tends to not do that with Clan Battlemechs.

Rifleman does fine without any sort of durability buffs; the hitpoints on the Hellfire alone are not what concern me. The geometry is what concerns me.

I'd rather have those bad clan mechs fixed, just as bad IS mechs honestly.

Clan battlemech will never be garbage. Quirks will tell just how high it will place in tiers.

With that type of ideology I can see why you find clan mechs OP. Half of the IIC pack is pretty much unoptimized trash mechs with one or two variants of each being either meta or just decent.
