Okay, I set the topic into Patch feedback, but as assumed, its invisible (nobody finds it), you though, thanks for your honorful stay with me. Those supportive intentions helped. Unfortunatelely I solved my Problem, and caused it self: with full intention, because - Im sorry for everyone - I manually have set a writing protection onto my temp folder, in january, this was because I had some virus-like intruders appearing on my autostart, with names like biology-2, diode-1, drain-7, hoist-66, those programs were running on my system, doing nothing that I would have noticed, do spyware obviously. I decided to protect the folder they did appear with a write protection manually, not because Could not have used a antiv virus to help out, but to try new ways to get a own knowledge of security and do some additional steps to proof myself as a superuser...
now, the writing protection did its work very well, programs were running, and I solved a very annoying issue.
Now, when installing programs, I also had no problems usually, but the ones using the temp folder had some buggy behavior, but still working, were functioning, but with warnings.
Now in 3 months, I forgot it, and so it blocked my installer of course. I had a bit trouble to find the exact folder, app data, which I gave its write protection to 'system', but not to 'administator', so I could use it manually, it was a test. And shall know it was worth it.
I installed the new MWO client, I was unable to use the cache function to update the solaris patch, it said copying 1 of 2, and then did not show any progress for long time, about 10 minutes, which is a very bad sign for a human user even if your program works, but you dont care about telling it to a user.
So I downloaded the 1,4 gb a 3. time dodidodidodidod... and a long patching process later, my software works now.
You really have a huge game, PGI.
You should work on the loading and processing times in general. The people here issue the home lobby... it was quite bad even before the Solaris patch, not impossible, but a notable issue. But worse were and are and this is why my post belongs to the topic, I know I talked about my tech trouble, you might call it offtopic, I think its still good enough: To write a full context for you; now worse is the 2-5 minutes loading times between the quick matches, or faction mode just to fight another 5-10 minutes, usually only 2 because your mech gets a critical hit at start of the match; very possible - it just doesn't make up for people investing into so huge amounts of loading time, just to get cannon fodder for the 2-4 best players in either team, who have the priviledge, to destroy the reason why the other 20 people loaded the game they were probably lost in, just because the teams are uneven - because of the matchmaker algorithm.
Be aware this is quite an issue! Users cant do anything because everything is automatic, so you made ourselves dependend from you pgi, and I hoped that I can adress my thoughts a little bit, I would wish that the 1v1 and 2v2 modes have multiple matches on the same map, and also the quick matches, just any kind of change to relativate the amount of playtime into map change all 1-2 hours like in normal online games, with waiting for the end of the last match after map time runs out; to have less waiting times, loading times, poll times between the matches, and also there could be dedicated servers instead, just mentioning that, it would help to keep balancing and loading times on a more customizable level for players to make them help out if they have issues with ping, player strength, or map loading times, you just have no way to interact with it.
Thats my thoughts on the solaris patch, all in one, different topics, I had a heart to say it finally what summed up the last months in my head, now relax, lets enjoy the update and hope for a better game. Thanks for your mindful opinions storm of the truth...
