Its not really *that* complex for IS tactics. You don't have to go super deep into the builds. You want a EZ steamroll deck just get two Annihilators, an Assassin, and a Commando/Javelin. If you're a unit you're going to win about 99% of your matches against PUGs if you have an ounce of cohesion. Against units just make sure you stick together well and whatever you do don't bring dual Hgauss, you'd be better off with UAC boats or AC5 boats, why bring a build known for 50 PPFLD at practically pointblank when you can compete with Clan alphas with a double tap from 2UAC10s+2UAC5s at range, a bit less alpha for a whole lot less heat and lower cooldowns and a boatload of health so your team can push in on them to take cover out of the equation.

Play more FP before you generalize IS tactics.

>stating a specific deck and specific builds is generalizing

Edit:
really though, I was stating that it really *can* be generalized. Building general purpose builds is rather useful and all that's usually needed in FP, one for general purpose mid range combat, another for extreme range in the semi rare case of getting polar, alpine, or boreal. In general you aren't going to go up against exceptional competition in the mode, and if you do then you'd see what they brought and build a counter deck around it, or alternatively don't and just throw caution to the wind because you're more likely to not face them again than you are to face them again.

Some US primetime units drifted to Clan, Eurozone went IS. Things move fast now. Tomorrow end result can be opposite.
War History tally on last months wins is pretty brutal though, IS totally dominates.

yes, i remember how the IS took back all its lost planets and even made it to the clan capital worlds before the reset. IS was clearly superior back then.... except, wait.... thats never happened.

I cleared my drop deck, and it seems I can only select mechs for my drop deck that are Division 3 mechs in Solaris, anyone else having this problem?

Oh dear... You've hit the recent bug caused by the Solaris 7 Release. You'll need to hit "Clear" while Editing your Drop Deck, then press "Show All", then reset your choice of Filters, and then start setting up your Drop Deck again. I know, it sucks, but only PGI can fix it. :(

Why to continue measuring drop deck in weight?
Maybe there is an other way?

drop decks will now be determined by the following formula.

{[(# of seals clubbed)^-solaris mechs division] - (# of matches won)} x (epeen)

War thunder does it pretty well but in that situation each vehicle has *1* loadout, maybe with minor changes to gun etc. but they are minor.

The problem with MWO is that builds vary wildly even on the same chassis variant.

You could give certain weapons performance values but that is obscured by the mobility / armour of the mech it is loaded on so that wouldnt work either.

The only choice they hreally have left is quirks / individual weapon tweaks to balance and then adjust by tonnage. This still isnt perfect and results in the comp divisions having specific rules to restrict certain loadout items, mech combinations etc. in order to make matches more balanced but even here you quickly find a "meta" team composition which just out performs anything else.

The problem with any sandbox design element is that the community will always find ways of manipulating the game rules in ways which were unexpected so the result becomes that the community balances itself by having a "meta" which generally becomes controlled by PGI in this case with fairly blunt instruments.

Tonnage is one of these blunt tools but because certain mechs perform better than the rest of their weight bracket (or worse) it rarely has the intended effect as the meta just cycles around specific mechs and builds which fit in to the new weight restrictions.

Interestingly though I play IS exclusively in FP and my deck rarely uses all the tonnage, im usually 5 or 10 tons short for most decks or sometimes more depending on the game mode etc.
I have seen the clan players failing to make good use of the tonnage so far, just increasing the weight of their LRM boats rather than actually thinking about what the current meta builds are and trying to get them to fit in to the new weight limit, this wastes the extra weight they have been given.

New clan drop weight tempts me. Blood Asp, 2x linebacker, machine gun light. Fun.

255 tons has given me more flexibility. I plan to purchase several more Hero Mechs/Omnimechs to flesh out three drop decks. Defend,Attack,Long Range.

I tried the Cyclops. Not a fan. The aesthetics of it do not please me. I'm finicky about what robots I like to pilot. Some speak to me, some are the Cyclops. :)

I love Linebackers but some maps are too big for a short range brawler, mid and lone range units are necessary.

speed and low profile make the linebacker superb on every map. Polar, run 12 through the trenches, feast on snipers and missle boats.

I dream of a catapult C4 rush. :P
Sure it's not a 90KPH monster house like the linebacker but it would be freaking awesome.

My Linebacker Redline is maxed at 104.5 kph and has JJs to boot.
