The explaination is simple: SOLARIS.
This is a small arena, FPS where TTK is idealy greater than 5 minutes..... Ah, killers, you are too quick and that shortens the play time and makes play too competitive, to quick........frewer sales and disgruntaled customers (the buy a mech pack crew...) Wait, this is just the beginning.... It must be as simple as the 1960's "Rock-and-Sock'em-Robots" for this S7 concept to really sell mechs and stuff.... Sorry, a hard sales reality.........
Yep, that's my concern. They balance everything for SOLARIS now - the game's rebranding - and your mechs become useless in Quick Play. Nice, but Solaris is not the full game experience, if for no other reason than you can't team up with more than 1 other person, and even then the Solaris group queues are almost always empty.
Sad that we've moved from 8 vs. 8 to 12 vs. 12 and now to 1 vs. 1 as this game's primary mode. I get it - MWO is old, arguably dying, and certainly way past it's prime, but they don't have to be so obvious about it... even encouraging it.
In the end, I can imagine piles of wimpy weapons and some utterly useless mechs, sacrificed on the altar of ghost heat and "balance" just so Solaris matches with them will go a bit longer... even though people will, in reality, just switch to some more meta mech in Solaris, further reducing viable builds in that format.
