See, the developers DO listen after all! If you cry enough tears to flood the forums then they will reverse any decision you don't like. All it takes is a tsunami of whining.

Considering you've been here since 2012, you should already know that by now.

It's funny watching people dismiss this as "whining."

The proposed nerf was total nonsense and seemed to have been developed completely arbitrarily. It looked like a spin of the balance wheel, and not an actual answer to an actual issue. This was not a well thought out proposal.

No one is saying that addressing clan-laser-vomit is a bad idea. Doing it in a well thought out manner that keeps clan lasers unique, useful and fun is what it needs, not a drunken stab in the dark.

Still seemed useful to me. Just people didn't want their precious meta touched.

I didn't whine, I just cancelled a pre-order for a clan laser mech (Hellfire). Told them as much in my request for refund.

Can you blame me? Why would I want to buy a mech with primarily energy hardpoints when PGI is about to mega-nerf lasers. As someone who plays both IS and Clan, it's just a bad purchase decision.

I haven't bothered to re-order since the nerf was postponed. I'm going to wait and see how things shake out before buying any more mechs.

No one (at least in any large capacity) was saying there was an issue with clan laser vomit nerfs.

Doing it via GH implementation was simply the wrong way to do it.

That's not a hard concept to understand.

Bad nerf was bad. There are better ways to bring Clan laservomit down than gutting Clan lasers with GH caps.

Actually what's a hard concept for everyone to understand is that it's about bringing the alpha capability of the IS and Clans to a closer level. That seems to be the thing that's hard to understand. Granted if they bring the alpha closer, they should also nerf IS duration to offset things being closer.

Yep. PGI should have just ignored a large, paying majority of their customer base. Makes perfect sense...

what are you missing?

it's not about balance or parity or "goals". It's about how the method those are achieved.

The focus on alpha strikes being equal is also silly. There are situations where DPS>alpha strikes. Why not focus on encouraging that kind of play rather than making everything bland and samey?

This sort of thing is why IS has been on the short end of the stick for years.
Any attempt to take away the clans OP toys leads to a chorus of hysterical shrieking.
