So stealth armor behavior has changed, and apparently you gain heat faster on cold maps.

So when you're stealth, even on cold maps you gain heat while running, and you no longer bleed heat on cold maps. I imagine that this creates a much nastier situation on hotter maps.

Was this change announced? Because I can't find it in patch notes and it feels like a stealth nerf (No pun intended) to a lot of mechs that tend to be incredibly fragile to begin with.

Some maps got less cold than they were and other maps got less hot than they were. That was the March patch, I think.

Map temp gives a flat bonus or penalty to heat dissipation. This was lessened slightly recently, making maps more consistent in terms of dissipation.

I have a stealth raven with a pitiful armament of er smls. The heat build up of running stealth is a good reason not to use it. you really can't use it when your mech's primary weapon is lasers as it just adds to the stealth heat. Cooked my mech plenty of times. stealth armr is a big gimick with lots of draw backs.

Smart pilots will just use a uav, night vision or thermal to find you eventually. Since tag is visible in normal mode you can't be a stealthy tager and any one even half way smart can find where a mech shooting er lls is at. The best use of stealth so far is strikes, telling where enemy is or using a ppc to snipe with as the ppc isn't as easy to back track to the source.

What gives away a stealth user the most is either they just stay in one spot too long or they move and someone has seismic pick up their movement.

the commando 2D isn't too bad with stealth armor. SRM2s run cool enough that you can keep it active for a while, though coolshots are still invaluable for securing kills. the biggest advantage of stealth armor in my experience is that it allows you to pick people off without drawing attention from the rest of the team. the missile immunity is nice as well. it's definitely a gimmick, but it's a lot of fun.

Thermal doesn't work against mechs with stealth armor active.

I saw it too that on some maps heat isn't decreasing altough it should.

But its ok, run around the corner deactivate stealth for 20 sec, cool down and start again :)

On Inner Sphere side i only see 4 mechs for stealth & narcing:

Commando
Raven
Hellspawn
Assassin

Did i forget anyone?

Unless you're on an ice map, then its aim for the dark spots. It's amazing on Forrest Colony Night. Makes your mr peanutbutter feel like the gotdamn predator.

I don't think it was ever intended for you to be able to dissipate heat while under stealth, but I know what you're talking about. You could totally do it with operations tree on certain maps.

Stealth Armour is the bomb is some situations. My experience with it has been very positive, and that was while levelling up without important heat reduction or sensor upgrade skill point investment. It only gets better once your skill tree is fleshed out properly. Some crazy stuff can be pulled off while using it, so long as you leverage wisely between activation and deactivation before, during and after combat.

Almost every Pirate's Bane Locust has Stealth Armor on, too.
