Hey All
Is there a pathway in a game for a new player to get to faction.
It seems to me that it is totally dependent on running into the right team.
The players need to have more stewardship, taking responsibility for owning the experience for all players
this goes especially for those who get down on noobs. They dont know what is stupid unless you educate them.
Thanks for considering.
First it is great to hear that you are running groups and getting people together. Ad hoc groups get better by playing together and guys like Yondu have been able to field competitive teams by reaching out and making friends with good players. Friends I have from MORB have told me you are pretty much the hero keeping IS going past 11pm est.
As far as stewardship goes, hold on and step back. I am not responsible for new player experience nor should it ever be placed on my shoulders.
You played against us tonight on Grim Portico on attack, and your group refused to leave the drop zone. This 'your teams too good, no fair bs' is no bueno. If you want to talk about responsibility and you are interested in getting people together to play, that is going about it the wrong way. It's why we reject your friend invites and why when on the same side we don't have discourse when in the same drop.
If you are truly interested in what to do, try your hardest every match. Pay attention when grouped up with good players what they are doing aaaand ask them stuff. Take note on common defenses and strats on maps. Try and get your group to follow a plan and especially try and get them on the same page. Having two guys in your group that think bringing brawling builds to Grim Plexis while the rest of you are mid range trade with some range support is not worth it. Having that guy in your group that insists on bringing lrms to every map on every mech is not worth it (lurms easy to pick on but that sniper all the time guy is the same). Do you see the theme here? You want to focus on getting people to play together instead of just with each other. Tough as it may seem, build your team around people who will listen and work together and don't invite those that won't. You are better off finding pugs who might be interested in working with you.
Don't forget as well that more you do to gain experience as a player, the better leader you will become. One of the things that made me a better player was by popping by other units TS and dropping with them to see how they do things and learn more about the game. BCMC is on Cobra hub and I would be willing to at least talk with you a bit and if I am ever able to go IS again I'd take you along for a bit.
