There is no "view stock mech" button in the MechLab. To view you must go to the store, which is a bit annoying.

You can load the stock loadout in smurfy-net.de.

It will be a breath of fresh air as far as the game is concerned.

It's a shame that people feel you have to have the Mechlab to play and enjoy the game.

Well done to pgi for attempting to force the hand of the comp teams into playing something outside their comfort zone, to prove that they are that good and not just taking advantage of the meta as such.

The only issue I see if people actually do step up, is as has been pointed out already, is that we will only see a small portion of mechs with specific fire power capabilities.

Come on pgi, let's go one better.
Make it a bit more tt and have mixed companies 3/3/3/3 and specify no more than 2 of any mech per team.

That would make for really interesting tactical play I reckon.

That's likely because mechlab is atleast a quarter of this game and that's even more true when comp is concerned. Limiting the choices of mechs players can bring, preventing them from altering how their mechs can play does not speak competitive.

Also you are fooling yourself if you think there isn't going to be a meta in this stock selection. You think nobody is going to take the BL-7-KNT-L who has one of the more put together loadout of the stock heavies plus armor quirks?

What's the difference between that and somebody playing a meta heavy they put together from non-stock tournaments? Atleast teams have the option to try different strategies and alter their mechs for those strategies.

I am so glad that FIFA has made the World Cup a left-foot only tournament.

I was sick of the meta-tryhards using both feet every single match. At least this world cup will be something different.

The salt from all the professional footballers is delicious. Just git gud with your left foot you crybabies.

Can't wait to take that king crab with lore 2t for ammo for its 2 AC20s to share vs all that extra armour we get over here (double plus perks and quirks right?).

Dodgy mixed loadouts, low ammo, brawlers with half the amour of the lrm counterpart (cyclops, looking at you)... all kinda make you lean away from certain stock choices, I guess at least mostly the quirks match up, but the point about the short list of "viable" choices is valid.

I'm old, terribad and rusty to boot, but a 10 minute look down the list has me picking out things like the knight L, or orion VA due to loadout synergies and quirks. Every team will have both jenners... a black knight, one or two of atlas/highlander, maybe cyclops./awesome if they prefer actually trying lrms (no ams in those stock choices that I've seen) or a victor if they're brave (ooh, but look at that armour sacrifice). Ok so maybe my mech predictions are off, but the idea is there, the playerbase "route to victory" algorithm is already running over these mechs finding the best, and best to group together. May as well have selected random mechs every game and given them to both teams equally tbh, if what they actually wanted was variety.

e> sorting out previous mess ;)

8 randomly selected mechs in a mirror matchup does sound better than this to me lol.

Alot of people arent going to have sufficient time/mech bays/c-bills to prepare for this.

What they need to do, like with the skill tree, is:

make upgrade/downgrade (endo, ferro, dhs, artemis) unlocks and single time buys per chassis; equip or un equip as needed.

Did you ever try the stock button in Private Lobby.... if yes you can understand you are saying bad things. You just have to Skill your chassis, loadout are reverted automatically.

On other hands one funny things is : People must redo they're weapon group each match Posted Image (that's gonna to be more than annoying after 8-10 matches.)

So i have a message for PGI : Thx for ignoring 65% of the game, 40% of the work that a competitive team must do to prepare the drops. Thx to just simplify this part to just let the most skilled pilots being more efficient from other season beacause T1 Mechs do not accept error on heat management and less armor help people who can aim correctly (i should have miss some other things)...

Before i'm gonna to say (value are for exemple but it's how I feel it) a good team is 40% from mechs/loadout, 20% from pilot skill, 40% from team skill (team play)

Now it's gonna to be : 10% from mechs (cause limitated choice can't let you surprise your ennemy with composition) 40% from pilot skill, 50% from team skill

QUESTION :

So, if we are going to participate, are we should bought those stock mech, or downgrade our owned mech to match stock loadout??

Or, all trial mech will be those stock mech listed on valid tournament mech?

And, if we dont have the mech, how we set its skill tree?

More less set weapon firing every match....

IMHO you people need to understand some things:

1) In 2 out of 2 WCs so far the end result has been absolutely predictable.
2) The format of the last 2 WCs was neither enjoyable for the winners nor for the people who stopped competing along the way.
3) Something had to change.
4) The better players will gain more advantage from the mechlab then the "rest".
5) In any case (stock or full mod) a meta-game will present itself.
6) Tech 2 Stock mechs are even more predicatble then Tech 1 stock mechs.

If PGI does not switch the format so that EON, Empyreal, 228 and the other "top shelf teams" can stop farming the competitive queue, that queue will always be a source of frustration for "lesser teams" that get farmed. Might as well take the mechlab advantage to the minimum and reduce it to individual skill and teamplay. I see nothing wrong with that.

IF PGI is interested in getting the top teams out of the farming game, here is a suggestion:
4 Qualification Tournaments with 5 rounds of swiss followed by a (best of swiss) 8 team double elimination bracket. Price for each tournament is a locked spot in the semi-finals with a first round bye. (Adjust the semi-final tournament structure accordingly.)

That way the top teams are released from having to farm the queue and you have some (4) events to build up hype and present the meta to the teams farming for their shot at glory.

Regards,
Clay

Will the WVR-6K(C) be available for the 2018 tourney? WVR-6K is on the list but not WVR-6K(C). Seems like a minor accidental omission.

I just want to answer that : mechlab advantage still here cause of skill tree. If you don't know how to build a mech you certainly don't know how to do skill tree.

Plus you can copy loadouts more easily than skill tree.

So this advantage was really minor on the loadout side.

Just my opinion.

I don't know why people have problem that PGI shakes things a little bit up. If we didn't have stockmode we would have almost the same mechs and almost the same strats again. I'd even prefer an All-Urbie MWO WC to that. I'd even would be ok if each match had new, unique constraints and the teams would have ~1/2-1 hr to set up their mechs and strats.

What's wrong with stock mode?

For those of us that are interested in how this stock config change plays out, be sure to both pick up a supporter pack (a very fair trade IMHO) to help sweeten the pot for the WC winners, and try (make an actual effort) to watch more of the streams (get the viewer numbers up) and encourage those that are willing to take part by watching them play.

I know from the competitors part, that this change may seem stupid or unneeded, but from the angle of the viewer and fan of the franchise/game and the pilots/teams that have established themselves over the last 2 WC's... to see the playing field stripped down to mostly player and team skill is actually more thrilling. I understand that there will be crab on crab battles (or whatever) and a chassis selection meta (as do most of the proponents of the change) but that's actually part of what makes this awesome and makes me want to see how it plays out by the end.

Who is the best of the best when only piloting skill really separates you and your team from your opponents. Who does it better at the elite level with this change? Who takes home the gold? It's all up in the air now and that makes this season, I think more exciting from outside the comp sphere than those inside the sphere might think.

I think this could make the tournament a lot more fun to watch this year. I watched most of the matches the first year, but so many were rather predictable that I only really watched highlights of the tournament on YouTube the second year. I will definitely be watching the tournament more closely this year, and I am buying the tournament supporter pack for the first time just to help show that I don't think the stock mode was a bad idea. I'm not saying that every year should be 3039 stock mode, but changing the format and rules from year to year helps keep things a little less repetitive from the previous year's tournament.

I've had the whole will comp players just abandon the tournament or not discussion within my unit. We have mixed opinions on that. I think some will throw up their hands in disgust, but others will still be there. This change may also encourage more players from the general game population to give it a chance. I still think that a lot of the truly good pilots will be the same, but it will show the difference between truly good players and those that just know how to run the meta.

I just got back yesterday from dealing with some personal issues for the past couple months. Someone told me this was going to be a thing for this years mwowc after I missed the second half of mrbc (due to personal issues). I started laughing in TS, then it took me a second and I was the only one laughing. I thought guys on TS were jerking me around because I had been away and missed half the mrbc season, hey I felt bad about it, I deserved a couple jabs..... Turns out they wernt joking.

I could write a huge rant about this years mwowc rules, I think I can do way better in 2 points.

1. I challenge everyone at Piranha to be critical and analyze the posts of people who like these rule changes. You will see almost without exception that all of these people are not talking about themselves as participants. They are talking about how great it is that pirannah is sticking it to "CompMetaTryhardREEEE". These people have no interest in participating, no interest in watching competitive play or being involved whatsoever.

2. Customization is one of the things that hooked me on mechwarrior ever since I bought mechwarrior 2 at sams club with my dad when I was 9.

Bonus - This ruleset would be much better suited for a charity tournament. Its the mechwarrior equivilent of a 5K FunRun where everyone dresses as a superhero. This isnt how you run a championship.

This is gonna be fun to watch .

The pro players can get back to pawning pugs in their armless cheese mechs with no back armour and ten of some weapon after they entertained the masses .
