Not even close to true. One of the top comp players has dropped a ton of solo queue matches this month and I’ve been on his team a number of times. I can’t remember him saying anything, in text chat or over VOIP.

If it is who I think you mean, currently leveling their Fafnirs, I’ve seen that player with both my T1 and T3 account. 99% of the time on the opposite team, for both accounts....go figure. So safe to say a lot are seeing him in games.

They are happy with MM the way it is, and PSR is doing exactly what they want it to do. So I’ll reiterate what all the people defending the current status quo are saying, and my new philosophy:

I say keep MM exactly the same. Always stack all the sub 60th percentiles on one team. Always leads to fun games. They should just ‘git gud’, accept their role as fodder for the top players, or leave the game.

Yeah, that’s the guy, but considering the sheer volume of wins he’s racked up this month, those Fafnirs have gotta be well and truly leveled by now. Anyway, I’ve seen him on the other side plenty as well. Think I’ve won maybe one of those matches.

Which leads to another gripe of mine regarding match making, which is that superstars have a vastly disproportionate impact on their teams. One LeBron James is worth much, much more than any 3 above average players. Just like a top 0.1% guy on the Jarl’s List is far, far better than a top 15% player.

If that's true, then either the whole enemy team is coordinating with the guy to really play to his strengths, or everyone regardless of tier is awful at team play, and the greatest divide between the good and bad players is 'Mech selection and aiming.

Yeah but this game is weird. The other night I had Nova and another good pilot on my team--that's 3 top 1% players on the same side-- and we got stomped by a bunch of no-names. This isn't a super rare thing either. I'm wondering if the pugs are truly bottom barrel in these matches.

Well yeah, crazy stuff can happen. That’s why we play the games, right? And even the strongest back can only carry so many potatoes. But I’d argue that it is super rare for a team that stacked to lose. You really just need your potatoes to live long enough as ablative armor for your 3 good players to kill everyone on the other side.

IIRC the WoT tool that worked out your chances of winning was flat out wrong about 10% of the time regardless of how the stats showed who 'should' win.

It's not super rare for the underdogs to win

A 1 in 10 chance for an upset across all matches would be bad enough, but we’re not talking about all matches, ust those where the MM puts 3+ top players on the same team.

Assuming of course the tool really is 90% accurate. If it is, that’s the most damning indictment of the MM I can imagine.
