Keep a list for each play style you participate in: QP solo, QP group, solaris, comp, FP group (scout), FP Solo (scout), FP group (invasion), etc.
Every match write down what map and what mode you got on the appropriate list.
After you get 300-500 matches entered in a spread sheet for any 1 play style you'll be in for a shock.
And double the shock factor if you record all maps offered and both modes offered, plus which ones you got.
And that dude in Mining Collective...
..yeah well like some spoiled brat unable to actually play MWO he logged off within first 10 seconds of match starting. Definitely not a team player and we reported him.
Otherwise mostly see players log off/suicide in first 30 seconds of match for escort mode, irregardless of map.

Just remember, this is what the population demanded. They cry out for more maps to play on, then only wish to play on three or four of the currently existing maps as it is.
I personally would love for see more Caustic, Alpine and Therma, and far less HPG, River/Frozen City and Crimson Straight. I hate HPG and Crimson, not because of their layout, but only because I play them too often.

Vote against Polar Highlands. Your map multiplier increases and you will get your map, but you have to vote. We play on maps that have the most votes all of us. So it's fair. Maybe there should be a option to pick a map. but there maybe a wait.We all deal with LRMs so grow up life's not fair!

You Say it dude, you say it. My Wife laughs because, i called Polar Highlands since 2017 Polar S.H.I.T.Lands. And from 10 Games are 5 there, gamemode most Domination.
Now for the other players here. Think about it.
The Map is Cold and Stuff but, the rookies learn from the Playstyle@ Polar Highlands. The Playstyle is 99% the same: Run to the Beacon, wait for logs, klick for the Missile Button. For my experience, walk very slow to the Beacon, hope that only two player on my AND the opponent Team is a LRM Boat, hope they kill each other and then play Mechwarrior.
But the reality, when the opponent have more LRM Boat they win, when my Team have more, we win. And that see the Newbies, and do the Same.

Funny, for me MW has always involved LRMs and indirect fire to at least some extent. It's been there for every MW game I can recall. Same with maps of various terrain density and different tactical options.
Guess we just have different interpretations of MW, hence different weapons, maps and tactics.

Yes the LRM have be theyr autorisazion, sure, but when you have Domination on Polar Highlands, where at the Radar-Station is Cover? Oh jeah the Radar-Station . The LRM are SUPPORT weapons. Read the Battletech rule-book. But when 10000 Mechs (hyperboles) with LRM run.... realy i swear, every time when the map is chose, and the LRM launch beginns, i sing "Gene Kelly- i´m singing in the rain"

I seem to find plenty of cover on Polar Highlands. ECM can help. AMS can help everyone else as well (and if a whole team took AMS...). Only real problem with LRMs on Highlands is if you are NARCed, because there is just no breaking LoS/lock on that besides nuzzling up to your local ECM friendly mech (or the tower itself which then opens you to direct fire weapons) or maybe finding a really deep ditch (they do exist) and hiding for a few.
In Battletech, rule book and lore, LRMs where very common. There was a reason many mechs had an LRM system on them, even if only a single LRM5. They are very useful. Then, in BT:TT I can contest that LRMs HURT a lot. Recent match I had that involved an assault mech vs a Catapult ended up that the Catapult (with only two LRM15s) dealt enough damage to my assault mech that I had to do a piloting check and risk falling over if I failed. (Hint: That happens when a mech takes 20+ damage in a single turn.)

Wouldn't argue with a little bit of battlefield debris, but I don't think many dropships "collide" in lore and then leave their remains behind in an appropriate battlefield wreckage kinda way...
I think a Union class dropship, unless it was one that broke apart during reentry (which can happen from attack, damage or just mechanical error/failure) and left chunks behind.
Then again, not all battlefields will have such varied terrain as we tend to see in this game. Many areas fought over in lore were just about flat areas with very few hills for cover (which would be even worse than Polar Highlands, I agree). So I'm not overly bothered by the various map styles, and I actually would love for see even greater variety and more maps, which even includes some more like Polar.
Maybe a Spaceport would be good as a map at some point. Many fights were done inside a spaceport...

Still there are ways you can move on polar LRM lands so not to be seen and then pop the ridge into their backs. Normally it involves the light lance if it is fast enough to provide visual targets for the other team or their job is to be seen for a bit for misdirection. Then stay low in certain corridors.
Do not forget map size. That is one thing that polar, the new forest colony, new frozen city and even the new caustic have going for them. Size. That means room to maneuver or disappear.
Nothing tick another team off more than the other team not showing themselves and that is a good tactic and only doable on larger maps.
More maps is fun, but the ones made for faction warfare I hardly see when I drop into faction warfare.
Then remember we may be going back to 8 v 8 and the original maps seems a good size for that and alpine peaks, OMG how you will have fun chasing people up into the hills there instead of rushing in to the open areas.

Here's the thing about the maps. You don't NEED to go to the exact same spots to play them with the exact same non strategy and the exact same poke game. Everyone just does because its 'what you do' in the maps.
Get on comms, talk to your team, come up with a strategy and often people are willing to listen and follow. Don't complain about the potatoes on the team. Give them a goal and a purpose, give them a battle strategy and help them NOT potato. Warn of incoming fire, tell them to get in to cover, let them know when to spring the trap. it makes a huge difference.
(That being siad really.. PGI.. please.. add more Cover to Polar LRMLands)

To avoid this :
- Maybe the +1 vote per match you earn when your map doesn't get voted isn't enough, so maybe PGI should make it +2 vote or more.
- Leave the match early (as soon as you die), or launch the next match late (not right away), so you avoid playing with that same group of ~24 players, that will most probably keep voting for the kind of map you don't want to go play with them.
