Gauss with Recoil?

I'm sorry Chris, but that's just a bad idea. Gauss Rifle already has to charge up to make a shot, but now you're going to make it just like the Heavy Gauss?

At this rate in August when a game I've been heavily anticipating comes out I'll just stop playing this game altogether. Hell, I've been struggling to play still because it's just getting worse for me. And I think it's just how much progress is put into this game. Don't get me wrong, I might play Mechwarrior 5 if it's any good, but if it isn't I'm scrapping it from my list of games to play in the future.

I dunno. too many disappoints turns people away you know? 5 years at that, at least for me, with various different inconsistencies to straight up changes made.

This game is struggling, struggling to find that sweet spot that will make it always a game with high replayability.

You wanna know what game has high replayability? Rainbow Six. Different play style overall but the different things you can do? Insane. It will never end, each game different than the last.

If this game even had a third of all the game modes that the original Mechwarrior games had for multiplayer, this game would be more fun.

My question is if the competitive gameplay is so much better and enriched with high alphas that it justifies the frustration those alphas can cause on lower tiers? As far as i know no competitive player would even run the mythical 94pts build, so why do we need it?

Because PGI in an attempt to nerf the "mythical 94pt alpha build" is gonna destroy way more "tame" builds like the single gauss/laser ones.

Also regarding the "catering to the bad players" bit: You might agree with me about punishing the players whenever they do something stupid but does PGI?

All these attempts at increasing TTK and lowering the skill ceiling looks like clear attempts at reducing the skill gap artificially. I wouldn't be surprised if this has been Paul/Chris' agenda all along since they started nuking the game one year ago.

The assumption may be, but in reality 90% of the players can't use this effectively and have sub 500dmg games.

Like, typical heavy gauss build pretty much only tops at 250m-ish. Clan ones are hotter but it goes at least 450m-ish and can go more.

Even before we talk about severe restriction that very few mechs actually equip these builds, with short range they are very vulnerable to brawlers with very high dps and cooler setups.Just a simple Anni with quad AC10 with AC10 quirks easily out-dps this particular build, as well as other popular builds like quad LBX10 and many true dakka builds.

I really only use Heavy Gauss build on Cyclops hero and Victor. Othere are just too clumsy and there are far better builds than HGR build.

This all feels like a willful act of sabotage on PGIs part, just so they can go "see, we tried PTS like you said, and you just hated us even more for it, so it doesn't work". Nevermind a big list of carefully weighed and thought out suggested changes was dropped right in their laps that would be perfect to test on a PTS, nope, don't use that, create more strife and division instead.

The last couple PTS resulted in 1 of 2 things: either completely scrapping the proposed idea (Infotek, Energy Draw) or following thru with the original poor idea (skill maze).

The former is caused from having no idea how to re-adjust the idea, the later is from having no idea how to read the data or worse - cherry-picking the data. You can prove women are evil if you simply use pseudo-logic: https://pics.me.me/p...ls-30928587.png You can even prove the earth is flat if you ignore some science.

I can prove that a 94-pnt alpha is stronger than any other weapon if my target is standing still and we each only get 1 shot - but that's not how the game works!

With ridiculous hitscan laser damage to your CT 24/7.

Just lol. Only [REDACTED] players ever take full burns from 1.5 seconds of lasers to a single component. Realistically, you get hit by double gauss and half the duration of lasers at worst for a whopping 55 to a single component, all the while you have to stare at that target.

In reference to brawling I'm pretty sure he is referring to cMPLs which have a duration of .9 so...

If he isn't then he's just being stupid, of course considering he thinks that clans can actually brawl right now....it might be that.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Literal definition of insanity right here.

Please learn from all the previous mistakes and start buffing the bad performers. You've been nerfing the top for 5 years now and just keep walking in circles. Lose the arrogant idea that what you are doing is working and look at what other SUCCESSFUL game devs do and even the playing field, that way the skilled pilot wins and not the guy with the crutch.

No mech has 80+ alpha at 800m, stop with the exaggerations. At 800m, you have 2 gauss + 2ERLL (for 52 damage). You don't get 80 alphas until you get within 500m or less. The anni can match that alpha at about the same range.

In the interests of transparency, the Annihilator 1X's alpha at that range with HGauss, 6x ERML, and 1x LL is 66 after 15% from the skill tree; you may be able to get it to 68 or so if you can cram a TC in.

If you want more consistent performance at the 500 meter bracket from IS, you can swap that Anni's loadout over to twin standard Gauss and throw on two or three Larges with five or four ER Mediums and do 73 to 77 at 414-430 meters.

I'd say the MCII-DS/1 vs. the ANH-1X is, essentially, a classic example of speed vs. armor. It's really the cockpit placement that makes the MC-II, I think, a more flexible 'Mech. Make the ANH into a 100 ton STK, and there's no discrepancy in performance.

Sure, cMPL is solid in brawl range, but only if you're not being shot at. 1-2 shots from any IS mechs in that range are taking a side torso off.

Brawling is just dead overall. I know because I've exclusively used mostly clan brawl, particularly the Orion IIC.

Initially it wasn't that bad, well, it was but not for me. I had the firepower to slap people with but not the armor. Then came buffs, and nerfs. UACs killed my Orion IIC(O) build, so I switched to the meta that was the A Variant.

It's still rough, albeit thanks to experience I can survive mistakes I made that the old me would have died to easily. I have to deal with Gauss Laservomit, LRMs, you name it, I've fought it, been witted and outwitted them.

Kind of sad really. I wish I had gotten into beta so I could have experienced the highest TTK the game ever had.

Also true brawling is...well in a bad spot putting it lightly lol. RIP cSPL

Crosstech for PVP was bad in both MW3 & MW4. IS tech died because of it.

Huh, why does the game not feel nuked for me? But that's okay because we all have different opinions on how MWO should be like.

Heck i don't even see much of that increased TTK, my QP matches are still finished within 4-6 minutes on average like last year. If anything i rather have the impression QP matches are over even faster, but maybe i just learned to carry harder. Posted Image

Maybe it's about time they speed up their agenda so i get more gameplay out of my MM-waiting times. Posted Image

The funny thing about all the calls for higher TTK is that the bads apparently don’t realize it’ll only advantage the good players even more because it reduces variance. In every in-game event, we’d expect good players to do better than bad players, right? They shoot more accurately, position better, twist damage better, make fewer mistakes, etc. In a game with low TTK, an inferior player can always hope to get lucky; after all, even good players make mistakes, don’t play perfectly. But over time in a high TTK environment, with every event their advantage increases, in the same way that playing 3 hands against a poker player much better than you is much less likely to be disastrous than playing 1000 hands.

The vitriol in this community is hilarious. Buffing things isn't the answer, never has been. Everyone makes the argument "nerf one thing and another one in the line takes its place" its the EXACT same for buffing weapons. You will never have parity, nor should that be the goal. There will always be a meta weapon for a given situation regardless of the nerfs/buffs. The wave of sodium over small nerfs is staggering.
