Public Test Session 1.1 - Alpha Balance Series
NOW LIVE
Friday 11:00AM PDT (4:00AM UTC), July 27th - Monday 12:00PM (noon) PDT (7:00PM UTC) July 30th

Greetings 'MechWarriors!

The Alpha Balance Series PTS 1.1 is now live! You can checkout the details and how to access it by clicking here!

Pro tip:
Has it been a while since you updated your Public Test Build? Instead of patching normally, you can run the MWO Repair tool to copy files from your main MWO build, saving on patching and downloading time. Just make sure the option to "Try to fetch files from other MWO installs on this computer" is enabled in the Repair Tool.

Rewards
To thank you for your time and feedback, we've set up a special reward for your participation in this Public Test Session 1.1.

All players who have played at least 10 matches with minimum of 50 Match Score on the PTS client this weekend will receive the following prizes to their live client account on Tuesday August 7th:

- 2,000,000 C-Bills
- A new unique Warhorn: Emerald Cicada Warhorn

Patching. Where is the bribe to get lots of people to test so that we can actually get matches?

Okay, so they posted up some Rewards for helping with gathering data.

Still, WHERE is the PTS Patch File Download Link that some need in order to get rolling? Not everyone has a nice ISP with all the Bandwidth and Quality Of Service in the world! :(

Good ISP helps you nothing with the downloadspeed the portal provides.

Dev. If you are not very far along. Just stop there and cancel the download.

Copy the contents of your regular MWO folder over to MWO PTS folder. That will save you mucho bandwidth man.

Then select the MWO repair tool from the top left drop down, let it do it's thing and then follow up with "Patch" after it's done.

Viola.

Seriously it will save you A LOT of time and downloading.

Why yes, you do have to bribe me to participate in a PTS. And yes, a unique warhorn is a sufficient bribe.

Or just wait a short extra, and PGI gets the PTS Patch Download posted. Now I have it, and I'm happy. PATCH TIME!!! :D

Most people said is was not going to make a difference one way or the other so they left it in?

However, now with the increased laser duration, it will make a difference because you will be exposed for much longer with the laser burn before you can release the Gauss button and duck back into cover. Exposing yourself for 1.6 to 1.75 sec to get a full burn in while facing Gauss, cGauss or HGauss is going to be unpleasant.

I'm still ok with the blue lasers.
The yellow lasers are still not really worth their heat.

Best way to balance would still be more mobility for all mechs. The terrybads die, the good players roll the dmg. Problem solved.

but again thats the wrong way to look at the core issue.

Let me just grab the portal and HO-LEE ****!
Are you kidding me? nearly 20 gigs?
I mean I know you are a small company but come ON grab a copy of "Winmerge" or something it's called a "diff" people, NOT shipping out the entire whole set of assets for a parameter tweek is a SOLVED problem. You just run a hash on the files to make sure they are what you expect and apply the patch with the changes you don't ship out 20 gigs of data that we already have! You are paying for this too.

Has been quoted all over the place: You can copy your regular game files over first and then run the repair tool or have the option to "try tog get the files from regular installation first" thingy.
@PGI: Why not make this the default? It seems to work for a lot of ppl, so it should not pose a risk anymore.

It is now. At least for me, it wasn't showing up earlier. In any case, thanks to PGI for making sure it's there now.
