Played around 24 matches now. Some in groups of good players, bad players and Solo Dropping

Insta Queues basically all the time.

Fun games all round. No real complaints here!

Although 14 Conquest matches did take a mental toll on me. That said getting a base-cap win in Assault today is gonna be worse :D

After 24hrs of nothing but Conquest I can safely say I HATE this game mode in FP. It is fun as a "change" of pace but to play it over and over and over and ...... (can you hear the mushy noise of me hitting my head against the wall?)

I've had the opposite experience.

Conquest with 4 mechs is a properly functioning mode. In QP, Conquest is broken because skirmishing wins it 95% of the time.
In FP, however, the caps determine the outcome 95% of the time. It's actually pretty cool (read: light mechs have an actual purpose!).

Conquest was fun to play, but damn stressful watching both sides cap points get closer and closer. Especially when the opposing team goes all out to try to get the points. Luckily managed to get the win. BTW the mech score was 28 - 38 their way. So we were behind on kills and ahead on caps. We'll done team.

Yesterday was fun, today was complete and utter ****, incentivising these potatoes to chase first caps leaves everyone not in a light dead out of the gate.
0/10 for day two.
Won't be participating in the rest of this event as I hope that it will signal a sincere expression of my wish for FW to just die already. Its a colossal waste of resources dedicating any dev time to that POS.

conquest in FP, likely pilots will be not using all their weight, and loading fast mechs.
in QP, destroy an enemy they're not coming back, in FP, they have 3 more returns to grab caps., getting caps, and defending caps the fastest way possible.
Assaults are just too slow for that.

of course if one does not have a selection of mechs to choose from, to make these adjustments for such battle types . . .I understand

Well, IS vs IS, this is the first FP for me which happened both team has the same tech.
And I complete the Day 2 (conquest) by dropping only with a Commando doing cap, almost no damage, but still survived the match. One match ended 1242 - 1250, that was very close and good game

Anyone else win an Assualt game by capturing the base and not get the event credit?

As expected, Assault is nearly impossible to win by cap in FP. In QP, you get it about 1% of matches, and FP is even more difficult to cap. I'm not sure how you figured it should take 3-4 matches; it's probably more in the realm of 3-4 dozen matches before you luck out and wind up with a way stronger team by luck.

For evenly-matched teams, in large maps, there's literally not enough time to kill enough of the enemies that you can cap, and on small maps, every enemy you kill delays the capture by 30+ seconds because the dropships shoot the capping mechs and stall it.

Challenge should have just been a win like the other days. Not sure why PGI felt the need to remind their players how much they despise us.

If the dropships shoot you, it stalls the cap. If anything shoots you, it stops the cap.

The only way to win is to wipe their team and cap in the time it takes the dropships to arrive. Or hope they're wildly out of position.

I can't say, haven't been on a winning team yet

You did participate in the base capture? Worked fine for me.

Btw you might consider the whole event. Getting one cap win is not the most difficult part of it.

You have to be extremely lucky to win by cap. You have to luck out and get an opposing team that's horribly out of position and can't RTB in the time it takes to cap. Otherwise a single mech can stall the cap almost indefinitely. If there's an enemy with ECM and a pair of ERLLs, capping is basically impossible.

One cap win is by far the hardest challenge in this entire event, because winning by cap requires a skilled and coordinated team facing a horrendously uncoordinated team, and even then, a ton of luck.

Won by caps 3 times in my first 3 drops (1st and 3rd).

Now on my 6th drop, still not one single "Defensive Kill."

Congratulations on being extremely lucky. If a team can't stop you from capping until time runs out, or you're forced to kill them all, then there was never any hope for them.

I'm guessing Kurita players have trouble with the defensive kills, and Davion will have more trouble with the cap, because as far as I understand, Kurita just has more skilled players in general. Probably in part because half of the 'good' Davion players defected when they saw Kurita winning so much.

Unfortunately for Davion players, they lose out on MC, and Kurita players only miss out on a warhorn that they probably already got yesterday.

Try playing Davion - you'll get your chances at defensive kills.

Oh I meant 2 times in my first 3, hence the 1st and 3rd in parenthesis lol... Small typo there. My first match we just legged the last 2 guys on the team and just ran and capped their base. 3rd we just all took the base while their last dropship was incoming. Didn't take long with so many people standing on it.

you gotta let them on your base first, before you can get a defensive kill to count

Really ? I've had cap wins in assault 3 out of 4 matches so far. The nearly impossible thing seems to be the defensive kills. I literally just did what was required, killed an enemy mech INSIDE out base cap box, and didn't get the defensive kill bonus. I'm basically going to ignore it from now on. The ones with MC attached I got in the first match of the four.

I'm guessing you play Kurita? If you want defensive kills, try defecting. Apparently Kurita just has so many better players that Davion teams practically can't cap, which means Kurita players never get the defensive kills challenge because they're too much better than their opponents.

I'm so kuritan I still have 6 probation matches left.

Oh yeah, add me to the lottery winners. 2 Assault matches tonight, first one was a 34-18 pub V. pub stomp that we capped. Now, only the defensive kills left(and UAV, but thats because I accidentally unbound the UAV hotkey...)

Out of 3 games I played today (All Davion)

2 ended in a base cap wins... Just kill 47 mechs and use a magical tool called - IN GAME VOIP.

Everyone then jumps on the base and you cap it. Easy as.

It is nothing like you are describing in-game.
