Its called the Firestarter and is not needed. A gauss rifle light is a joke. You could buff the cooldown 100% and it still would not be scary.

Stick a gauss on a Urbie or something.

um...have you ever heard of pin point..front loaded damage spheroid? i know you have been around awhile so you should know why comp players will offten choose the less damage Gauss and ppc weapons over others....and it comes down to front loaded..pin point damage that can not be spread like many energy and missile weapons with far bigger damage values and better fire rates. its really a simple concept that no good player will argue. ill be dammed if i see a single MS, Kcom, or really any other major unit say they are crap weapons. it just wont happen. even just ONE can be effective if used properly as its supposed to be used.

The point is its a Lore Mech and WHY NOT!!! The hollander would be fun but not very effected but still fun none the less. I for one would purchase it just for the lore and sillyness of it. LOL

case in point the enforcer ghille running Gauss with 4 er med back up weapons" in case of a light mech some number of smalls or less mediums". its not hard to see it working when we have mechs that already do Gauss play at lower tonnages and they work just fine" i run 3 ERM and a Gauss on my cougar blood asp...works great.

PGI will never give out the level of godquirks needed to make the Holly even mildly serviceable in MWO.

An IS light mech designed and quirked around the use of a single Gauss rifle would be too fun or interesting to be released in MWO.

Do not be so sure. 15 damage every 3 seconds from far away can be very good in the right hands. I personally want the Hollander for aesthetics. No Firestarter, or Urbie totting Gauss will give me the same satisfaction as that of Gauss Hollander. Naturally the mech would be useless if the quirks cannot support it.

Since the gauss rifle would be the only weapon of the Hollander, its only advantage is range and pin point damage. It lacks high alpha damage (compared to laser and SRM lights), DPS, and total potential damage from low ammo count. The lack of ammo will also turn it into a stick pretty fast. Adding more ammo will just slow it down even more which means it will become more vulnerable against speedy lights or counter sniped by larger mechs.

While that 100% cooldown would be pretty good in a 1v1 to alleviate the gauss' biggest flaw, it would only empty the ammo faster in 12v12.

We already got full of meta light mechs for lasers and SRMs. What we lack is flavor, and just like the Clan Adder, Hollander will deliver that flavor.

Sure, there's nothing wrong with adding the Hollander to the game for people who want to use one for fun, but imagine the forums on the week it's released.

almost no mech in the game is a one weapon wounder...and even if it was in battle tech lore...it wont be in MWO version. the Hollander WILL have different variants and load outs, not all will nes require or use the Gauss. and it will have support weapons to back up the Gauss im sure. so again dont get the one trick pony comment. and LOL chort i get what your saying about the forums, but i really dont think the Hollander will be that talked about, short of praise for PGI from its fan boys. just another big ballistic light mech "im thinking it will play like the Cougar, slow for a light but really big weaponry".
