I didn't get the 72,800 GXP and 4.1 Million C-Bills

also, for some reason, I cannot change the load out on the free mech

ok, I think I did get the GXP and C-Bills, just never saw the pop up for it, probably mixed in with a bunch of loot bags, and just didn't notice it,

now, for some reason, if I used a loadout code on the free mech, it treated it as a trial/Store mech, once I left the mech lab it would revert to stock, but manually adding the new loadout, worked just fine. So all is good there as well.
on the slightly different note, I had just been using my mechs that needed XP, so been shy many times getting that 500 match score, but can blame that partially , not the ideal loadout mechs for the voted Map/Modes.
Had forgotten to add skills to new mech, did one match, got my five hundred match Score . .HA go figure, map and mode was doable, so yeah
got it done

@PGI: I am really, really sorry, if I am utterly stupid and somehow missed an event internal redemption deadline... However, my situation is as follows:

I got enough Smoke Jaguar kills during the FW portion to choose a camo. However, now my kill count has been reset to zero and I am not able to pick one. :(

On the other hand my pick of a Mech succeeded without problems. *confused*

@All: On the topic of 500 MS game... I am not entirely sure whether or not the limit is set correctly, because when talking about very high scores, damage is not the only deciding factor... The following four examples are not my own, but results seen by observing results of other players.

3 kills, 9 assists, 900+ damage... MS 489
4 kills, 6 assists, 700+ damage... MS 503
4 kills, 8 assists, 800+ damage... MS 499
1 kill, 11 assists, 1000+ damage..MS 493

In other words, it IS possible to play excellent games and still fail. I am probably among the one hundred of the worst active pilots and I have managed to exceed MS 400 a few times. I am not stressed about the limit, if I do not manage a MS 500 match, then I did not deserve the 5 million C-bills. I am also very well aware that only four samples is not a statistically reliable number, but looking at those I am inclined to think that limit probably should have been around 470-480 instead of 500. A figure that that is still very difficult for someone like myself to reach, but would take minor amount of strain of those players who are just a hair under those who can describe themselves elite pilots.

@D V Devnull: Generally speaking, I have liked the event (and the prizes :D ), but it does appear to have some oddities, so I am giving it a preliminary score of 8 / 10.

ERescue, your match score isn't based solely on damage, though it's a large factor. KMDD's and Solo Kills are worth quite a bit as well, and it's possible to do 1000 damage and get only 1-2 KMDD's if you focused all that damage on parting out 2 guys. Component Destroyed is also a big component in match score, so if you blow off lots of arms and legs you get bonuses for that. NARC Kills, Defensive Kills, Savior Kills, all also factor into match score. Also, team damage is a huge negative to match score. The guy with 1000+ damage and a sub 500 match score... I would not be surprised if he had like 100 team damage or something for a bad air strike maybe.

As for the camo redeem, when you switch factions the counter gets reset. So you probably had the ability to pick camo, then went FRR Merc, and lost the ability to pick a camo.

@Eisenhorne: Thank you for the note... Though I doubt it, I will try reswitching to Kurita and see, if I get the redeem possibility back as the event is not over yet... I will let you know how it goes.

@Eisenhorne: REALLY big thank you, swapping contracts re-enabled redeeming on the camo. *three cheers*

Another thing to bear in mind regarding MS is that class matters. Lighter mechs get better scores. I've had 3 kill 2 KMDD 480dmg games in lights be called 430 score and similar matches in assaults be called about 60 pts less, so mileage will vary.

What confuses me about this event is that the lootbag QP part of the event apparently lasts longer than the in-game event manager section of the event? And by a whole day no less?

Care to elaborate?

Care to extend?

Really quite hard to achieve the 500 match score with the potatoes the game keeps dropping me with. You know the kind that results in getting stomped in 7/8 games.

Funny though back in the old ELO days 500 match score was quite realistic and not too hard....... But then the game was also better back then. No PSR bull crap or skill trees or map voting but most importantly a player population around 4000 not 600 etc etc.

It's actually easier to get high match scores with average to below average players as you aren't competing for those numbers.
The only thing that has made it harder was arms not counting when a ST is blown off.
That said, there is nothing wrong with rewarding talent / skill with a little extra. Especially considering the 100 loot bags people get for 50 match score.

I wish we could sell cockpit items for MC. Don't get me wrong: when it's a cockpit item that I've been wanting, getting it is great, but when it's one that I don't want, or already have more than I want to use, it just clutters up my list of items, and what few filters exist don't work perfectly (Warhorns vs lights, for example: some warhorns don't show up when you say "warhorns only").

It would be perfectly fair to only be able to sell for half price. That way, when we have a 1/2 off MC sale, buying and selling merely breaks even, and if the item is not on sale, you're losing MC by buying and reselling. But for every two warhorns that we don't want, unlocked in a loot bag, or gifted as a reward of some sort, we could get one warhorn that we DO want, and will actually use, vs letting it gather virtual dust in the list of warhorns without ever mounting it on a 'mech.

Just my two cents.

(Even if there was a direct 1-1 exchange without going through MC at all, once again preventing farming the system during sales, I'd be okay with that).

Spotting assists and scouting also count towards that score. As a faster lighter 'mech, you're likely up at the front of the pack getting the first lock on enemy targets, and relaying targeting info through to the slower 'mechs in the back. As a slower assault, you're not doing as much of the scouting (instead using the scouting data from other 'mechs) and you're not getting credit for that scouting, as a result.

I got mine in my stock Blood Asp-B. :) https://mwo.smurfy-n...b#i=707&l=stock

Seems LRMs are at least partially key to the 500 match score, because it inflates your damage and allows you to attack without taking damage.

Eh. Madcat Mk II B. 2xUAC10, 2xLB10X, XL325. I had a fair share of 1K+ matches with this thing and I'm still skilling it. With double strikes on top, my record so far is 1547 damage in a single match, giving 790 MS.

For me it was 11 assists, 620 damage and no kills. close to 600MS. That's not too difficult no matter how many potatoes are present.

About 7% of matches ended with 500+ score. And have not tried after 1st one. All with variety of mechs and builds.
So, its doable. Just check at end of match how score is calculated and play accordingly.

According to the main event page:

Phase 2
TURTLE BAY: AFTERMATH - QUICK PLAY
Start: Sept 5th 5:00 PM PDT (Sept 6th 00:00 UTC)
Ends: Sept 10th 5:00 PM PDT (Sept 11th 00:00 UTC)

According to the event countdown timer on the web and in-game this phase ends Sept. 9th 5:00 PDT -- that is a day early.

Error in the countdown timer?

Good event, pretty intense, mainly phase 2 (phase 1 can be speeded up by scouting). Got all challenges, the most annoying was to grind 50 matches of quickplay. Also I played at the potato notebook with potato internet, so 500 matchscore was finished at my main PC during couple (4) matches (several times just under 500, than nearly 1000dmg and 600MS)(Vindikator, MRM40, 3HMG,2SPL). Missiles are the key to high score, but I dont boat LRMs.
Overall I am happy, I like the idea of some harder challenges and it was nice that the champion mech was obtainable only by average playing (100 matchscore is nothing), so even a new player can have it.

AMS also seems to make a lot of difference if you intercept plenty of missiles.

Curious how that counted as 600. Have you got a screenshot of the awards screen? 4 kills, 5 assists, 2 solo, 4 KMDD, 791 damage and a key extra awards like 2 saviour kills in a heavy only came to 499. 6 kills, 4 assists, 3 solo, 3 KMDD, 649 damage and 10 components etc came to 453. 5 kills, 7 assists, 4 solo, 5 KMDD, 683 damage and a few bits like 4 saviour kills came to 502. That was playing normally as I refuse to just farm and be a liability to the team. Also almost no team damage ... unlike a lot of desperate people in this event.
