Here's a video I made of my Gold Warhawk, before the rescale:

I see them once in a while. I treat them as a good luck charm for my team, try to keep them safe.

I don't understand the psychology of TK'ing one.

People have been spending money on silly things with no tangible benefits apart from (dubious) bragging rights since the dawn of time. We do what we can to stand out. Probably that ancestor of ours 100,000 BC was sporting a really fine hat made of smilodon fur.

Y'know what's fun? With the mech export and test feature, you can now import and test any Gold mech if you have a build code. Here are the build codes for the gold mech stock loadouts.

^^^^ that's really neat!

I have a gold nova, play it sometimes. I got TK'd like 3 times shortly after it came out, but people rarely notice anymore, it's just not that gold when it waddles out into the sunlight.

I don't recall any sort of "program" for gold mech owners. There definitely wasn't any kind of special group that advised PGI on anything at all lol. There were secret squirrels back in the day, but that was something else and had nothing to do with goldies.

I got everything I paid for, and while it was expensive (meh) I certainly don't expect anything else. Shrug.

Edit: Off topic, but here's a Sara's Jenner to play with too :

I will send friend requests out to all Gold Pilots, and see if I can remember names lol. Maybe we can do a QP together with atleast 4-5 of us lol.

How do you use it? Have no idea where to input those codes.

And.. is it legal?

No but seriously thou, it's a build code for the mech import/export feature. It's been in the game for months.

Ok so I've come up with an idea for getting Gold Mech pilots together. Its been tried in the past but was a 1 time thing and unsuccessful from what I heard. Fallowing posts in the past gave me an idea.

So Id like to set up a weekly Gold Mech event, where we are all aware of a time and day week can most likely meetup ingame, form a QP team, and drop. Id need some times you guys can be available and also a new topic title that is catchy, that will stay active and viewers will keep it active over time.

I know piloting your old Gold mechs may be boring sometimes lol cuz Im sure you got your fill of it and then moved on but as far as I know its never been done before, where a full 12 man QP of all gold mechs has ever happened. Unless I missed it, its unheard of as far as I am aware.

So I'm good any-day of the week, at anytime cuz I don't work.

Let me know what days you guys can meet, and what times based on time zones and we can agree on a semi flexible time frame we can work with each week, that can change time to time.

Sounds like a fun idea. The most we managed in 2015 were 4 Gold Mechs in one game.

I am usually able to play on Monday and Wednesday mornings as well as in the late afternoons/evenings from Monday to Thursday (German timezone).

Group queue weight limits might be problematic with a growing number of participants.

I heard about that lol, there was a guy who organized it but it didnt have much success for the number of players who were active, and bought gold mechs.

Today, its even more rare to see them ingame not just cuz they dont regularly pilot their gold mechs but they are innactive, and have been for years now. PGI has lost many loyal customers over the yrs for their bad debugging issues, problems with the game, lack of PGI interest in bug fixes that are rather easy to repair, and upgrading the chat box.

The few people I know who have one also shy away from running them because they're afraid of getting TK'd though personally I don't think it'd happen often if at all now.

I know FP isn't the most enjoined mode all around, but it gets around the weight limit, in a way

Back when they first came out one of my unit mates had one and he got Tk'd like every other game for like 10 - 20 games before he just stopped running them.

I'm sure there was, seemed to happen a few times on guys according to the forum too.

But I also gotten a few thx from people that I spent that much money on a game they loved.

There is dedicated thread to post all gold mech sighting, don't forget to post when you see one! I asked again to move it out of Archives. We never know when we will see a Gold and it's a special moment so I hope they will consider to pin it at the top too.

It's been since my last post in there that I haven't seen one, really!

Don't have a gold mech, but if y'all are going to do faction and need a few people to round out a 12 man feel free to hit me up.

This is going to sound shallow, but this month I'm grinding the leaderboard and am currently in 2nd place for K/D at 22 K/D. I'd prefer to avoid piloting my non-meta "shoot me shoot me" Direwolf in Quickplay. Posted Image I'd normally just use my alt account, but I have no gold mechs on my alt.

Faction drops sound good and it prevents the problem of tonnage limitations. I'll attend regardless of mode though.

We can do that FP would be a good idea to solve that issue most deffinatly. Congrads on the ranking btw.

Well, I was going to post some screenshots of my Nova, but imgur refuses to let me upload to it. stupid thing.

Anyway, I still actually drive mine from time to time. I also have never been intentionally teamkilled while in the gold mech. A couple accidental, but no intentional.

It is funny, because usually people on the team are like "PROTECT THE GOLD MECH!".

Also had a few super epic games in the gold mech. One of the most memorable I had 5 or 6 kills, and was the last mech standing at the end of the match. Was a brutal match on polar, and my build is all small lasers and mg's. I know the match is on a stream archive somewhere, as I was grouped with a streamer. I will have to try to find it sometime. I feel like nothing is a bigger insult to the enemy team, than watching their last mechs get picked apart by a gold mech, with brawl weapons on a non-brawling map.

Go ahead and hit me up, though usually I am only able to play during evenings US.

Back when PGI really started to show how little they cared about actual work on the game and hoping something as shallow as Gold Mechs would help them out.

Not to call you a fool for buying a golden mech for some stupid amount of money.... but well yeah. The rest of the fanbase didn't appreciate the flagrant whale harpooning going on.
