this being one of of the widest mechs in the game "mauler and awesome for example", with a almost rectangular shape, slow speed and poor torso rotation, all that damage is coming right to its face. normally i have no issue with this on mechs like the dire wolf or annihilator that compensate for there size/speed with sheer firepower, range and armor, but in the case of the fafnir which is normally run with heavy gauss or brawl builds, it does not have the survivability of a proper 100 ton mech when trying to close that distance "dire wolf could use a bit of love for the same reason, but thats another subject".
here is an example of the current hitboxes that ive found...
i understand peoples complaints with the CT "since hitboxes have it extend into the side torsos", but with the current armor quirk it has for it, plus those you add on later, it is NOT AN ISSUE anymore in my opinion. compared to the overall size of the side torso hit boxes "still larger then the CT', and there far inferior armor values from quirks, and the fact people will actively focus them as they are the first thing it sees, is leading this mech to a early death for most players.
i think there are two major options PGI you could do to fix this...either give a hardy buff to the armor quirks currently on the side torsos, leave on the armor quirks from the ct but move 20 armor from the ct onto the side torsos "10 and 10". you would not have to rework the hit boxes and it would drastically improve the survivability of a mech built to perform the roles taken on by annihilators and dire wolfs. since you can not make it as good at spreading damage as annihilators, the only other option is to buff the armor of the mech to compensate. if you do this i foresee much more use out of the mech competitively and in Faction play, which, currently...is very limited.
