I would have rathered 3 hero's a La Carte.

This is badly organised for Anyone that has actually supported this game for a long time, as you are restricted to buying heroes from the same group, which means people that might have bought, are not going to bother because they already own to many in each group

I think to have a sale that made everyone happy, would be to

Step 1: Tag mechs at certain prices, whatever the criteria is, eg lights $5, mediums $6, heavies $7.50, assaults $10.
Step 2: Create a minimum spent requirement, eg minimum spent is $30.
Step 3: Allow people to buy any combination of mechs as long as they hit minimum spent.

So they could buy for example, 2 assaults and 2 mediums ($32), in addition to prescribed combos of 6/5/4/3 mechs which all add up to $30 anyway and some savvy players would figure out on their own to maximize their $30 bare minimum.

Some people complain no matter how good something is.....

A significant proportion of my unit and friends I've been dropping with took advantage of the sale it was so good.
