I most have confused it with another thread about dell pcs
Anyhow, took a look at hp 6200 pros, depending on the formfactor, i don't think they could even house as rx560 or 1050.
Also, looked like industrial 320w psus, which will very likely not be able to handle any modern graphics card but sure no 1050 or rx560. For a 1050, about 300w is minimum, so the psu will most likely run full force (until it dies) while still throttle the power.
I can see an older low end, low form factor work, but that's just throwing away money, imho.

I saw very minimal perf diff going from a gtx1050->gtx1070.
Those running much more rubust CPUs than my i7700HQ @3.5 are seeing way better numbers with the same card.
EDIT: minimal perf increase on both high and low settings, but just in this game. Other games jumped up like +20-50FPS on high/ultra everywhere.

I'm hoping the new GPU will help at least a tiny bit. Next on the list is more system RAM. I'm a disabled senior barely surviving on disability and actually legally blind until I can get cataract surgery done on my eyes, so it's taken me about a year to save enough for the slightly-better GPU (~$85). It's my 61st birthday (and Christmas) present to myself.

OP should just buy a GTX 1050.

Spending $85 for another GT 730 is literally a waste of money. You're setting the money on fire.

Intel Core i7-2600 (3.40 GHz, 8MB cache, 4 cores)
Intel Core i5-2500 (3.30 GHz, 6MB cache, 4 cores)
Intel Core i5-2400 (3.10 GHz, 6MB cache, 4 cores) Currently in the machine
Intel Core i3-2120 (3.30 GHz, 3MB cache, 2 cores)
Intel Core i3-2100 (3.10 GHz, 3MB cache, 2 cores)
Additionally, just got home and cracked the case. The power supply is 320w.

I mostly agree, but I have no other options since a new mobo/CPU/etc etc is totally beyond my means. It took me >2yrs to save enough to upgrade to my current rig from an ancient HP Pavilion with a Pent IV.

Sometimes. If his shipped with win vista it likely won't work. it'll have locked bios so it'll be pretty hard to get new gpus to run on it.
he needs to check his bios update. He needs 8.xx or higher. If it's 7.xx... RIP
edit: actually if he can run a 7 series nvid already, he should be able to run UEFI cards

Is it a Small Form Factor case (which only supports low profile cards) or a mircotower case (that supports full size cards)? Searching HP's website I found the 6200 Pro was made in both designs.

The Athlon 5350 isn't a terribly powerful processor, but considering your GeForce GT 730 is a 1GB card it's likely one with a 64 bit memory interface and/or only 96 CUDA cores. Would advise against upgrading to another 730 though, as you're likely to fall into one of the same pitfalls (not enough cores and/or memory bandwidth for a gaming card).
Looking a Newegg.com the absolute cheapest card I'd recommend buying as an upgrade would be something like the PowerColor Radeon RX 550 for $90, $70 after rebates. It has 640 stream processors and a 128 bit memory interface with GDDR5 memory, so it's an adequate budget gaming card. (edit: This is assuming you can fit full width cards in your computer)

My mobo only supports PCI-e 2.0. That card is PCI-e 3.0.
That's why I did not get something like it to begin with. I used Newegg's filters and that GT730/4gb is the best I could do. I was also limited to a total of $100 or less including shipping.
At least the new 730 has a lot more cores and video RAM.
Right now I cannot play Alpine at all due to screen/frame ripping/tearing, and even Polar I have intermittent screen ripping/tearing issues, although I can usually but not always get it to stop by zooming in & out when it starts happening.
Strangely, Solaris City runs about as well as other maps for me barring Alpine/Polar.

PCIe 3.0 cards are backwards compatible with PCIe 2.0 slots.
Edit: I just realized (it's been a while since I made my computer) that I am currently running an Asus P8Z68-V Pro motherboard (PCIe 2.0) with a Radeon RX480 (PCIe 3.0 card).

Well, the money is already spent and the card arrives tomorrow from Amazon, plus I don't have the extra money for the more expensive card from Newegg even after returning this one.
