Who else actually uses these to remind them of aspects of a particular mech?

I figure that this is a good thing, and also makes for an MC sink and potential "treasure trove" of aesthetic goodies, and honestly that is a good thing.

I think I actually want more options, like a 4th cockpit item that hands from the top left, and items that are more symbolic of aspects of a mech, the knives and sidearms are cool to remind, but shield items and the like would help one to remember quickly which is the shield arm etc.

Just a small thing really but I honestly think it is helpful, more so than bolt ons and decals, which I am also fine with.

So am I just a weirdo sucker or do other people feel it too?

I don't buy cockpit items, just use the ones I got from events.

Me too plus supply caches, I spend some "spare mc" on decals and paint jobs, but the option of buying them directly is fine.

Hi there, Shifty McSwift... I think I will give your Idea a nice big...

SUPPORT

...because of the overload of spare Standing Cockpit Items which I have but simply have no ability to pair with Hanging/Mounted Cockpit Items. Additional Slots would definitely be welcomed on ALL Three types -- Standing, Hanging, AND Mounted -- in order to satisfy the Entire MWO Community all in one shot. Even if they can't all be used at one time due to the Player's own lack of items in a given Category, it would allow those who want to be an interior decorator to enjoy themselves. B)

Yeah, if it is too much work etc then so be it, but if it can be done relatively simply and utilise more of what we have (IF we want it, there is the option for none too) why not I say.

Back when we had factions that acted as factions and the whole loyalist thing meant something, I was happy to blow copious MC on CP items; I put Phoenix themed stuff on my favorite QP mechs and all FRR themed stuff on my FP mechs. When I finally started playing clan mechs I outfitted each with lore appropriate themed CP items (Wolf mechs got wolf items, etc.). Then I decided I liked the Cameron Star Warhorn so much I threw a bunch of money at the game to replace all of my horns with that. Then I switched to themes by putting things like the Screaming Surat on really annoying light mechs and did other themes for other types of mech.

Then they killed CW and I stopped caring, and I stopped spending money on Faction specific themes.
Then they started nerfing all my favorite mechs, and I stopped bothering with any sort of CP items free or purchased because who knows if next month a mech in question will even be worth playing, let alone worth bothering to decorate to give it some sort of CP look and feel.

Meh. Now its just crap sitting in my inventory. I’d sell nearly all of them if I could.

I like using them for fun. Urbie or corgi in an urbie or catapult in the catapult. Sometimes I theme out the cockpit for holidays. I still need to eventually buy the 'for sale' one for my crappier mechs like the spider 5v. What a pos.

I put up Halloween lights during October, and then forget to take them down.

And also my Christmas lights go up during December, and forget to take them down as well.

My mechs are very festive this time of year.

Depends on the cockpit layout but most of the time I find standing and hanging cockpit items too distracting and out of place .

I prefer only warhorns on most mechs but even then I cannot tolerate warhorns on say a piranha , Christmas lights work much better .

Admittedly it was great fun in the beginning .

I usually put up the items I get from events right as I earn them in the mech that I earned them in. That way, it's easy to remember when that particular mech was great and I ran it all the time.

I.E. 1st anniversary cupcake in a firestarter, 2nd anniversary cupcake in a Timmy...

Almost scaring how much I identify myself in this. Only keepers for myself would be a Swedish flag (on the mechs I can fly it without covering half of my view), and of course the only decal I ever needed:

Get a lot of usage out of the IS C-Bill and XP bonus items from the Civil War packs (every little bit helps, soon to get another two from Charger/Hatamato-Chi too) and warhorns. But all the cockpit items are pack inclusions and event rewards. I'd never pay money purely to get them even if they were say a copy of the Word of Blake or some such.

I used to use the classy Urbie but then I eventually just lost interest in having to juggle it around between all my mechs (and no I'm not going to buy one for every mech I use, that's stupid).

I'd consider using cockpit items again if PGI let us buy those XP/C-Bill boosting cockpit items for MC or at least just a direct $$ purchase (because they give away MC for free these days). I'm not going to waste money pre-ordering full mech packs for trash mechs (and even for good mechs the collector's pack is a horrible waste of money) to get those items.

I use warhorns mostly to immediately notify myself that I finished off the target so I can move on to another one. Very important when I am keeping track of my next target(s) since I need to CARRY HARDER almost every game, with 3+ KMDD, when I do play. Then I match the other items to the warhorn.

Eh, not really. There's been lots of people driving themselves nuts over Events to get that stuff. It does NOT just fall out of the sky. :P

I wasn't saying that they were giving out that MC in large amounts, just that they were giving it away in any amount.
