Has There Been A Shift In Play Style Recently?

Like I remembered back a few months ago for a normal game pace, where the climax of engagment would be around 9 min, and game would end at about 7.
That pace seems to be pushed up quite a bit. I am now seeing a lot of major engagements occur at the 11 min mark. It's not uncommon to see deficits (0-1, 0-2) mere 1 minute in.
I like the brawl and more intense pace. It's actually balancing a lot of weapon groups appearances where it's not just lrm lrm lrm lrm lrm lrm lrm. It also can be frustrating at time when it's like 12 min and it's 0-4 and you are like, WTF is happening.
Anyways, anyone else noticed the same thing?

Events are intentional player-behavior change inducers. Including the resulting aftermath of counter-plays. This is normal. Keep calm and MWO on.

This may be more prominent due to the event, but i think that matches outside of events have indeed become faster/more aggressive since quite a while. Most matches i participate in (regardless of events) are over within 6 minutes.
Maybe the reason is that at some point mid-range became the dominant loadout choice after PPC/Gauss combo died which of cause leads to a brawl faster than long-range loadouts. At least I see very few long-range trading these days except on boring Frozen City assault campfest of cause...
And once i realized that matches have become shorter i indeed switched to more consistent-DPS focused loadouts which are capable of dealing 1000+ dmg within 5min for those fast, stompy matches. Which of cause adds to the issue if i'm not the only one doing so.

My only real annoyances are that folks seem to either get to a "door" (some kind of narrowing" and stop, back up, move forward, back up, over and over and over, blocking anyone else's ability to get by, and it seems that even if I swing WAY wide to avoid being stomped on by my team, they seem to think my backside is the start of a conga line and I am blocked.
Just thought of another thing: I've never taken so much team damage.

I blame that on the great influx of OP lights like the Piranha... they have the audacity to simply waltz into the center of a murderball and facehug - and they get away with it. Lights have become so powerful that it's absurd.. And their speed means they can reach the enemy early in the game - hense, they either die quicker if the pilot sucks, or they last longer and wreak havoc, enough to distract the enemy into a stomp.. again - quicker, more aggressive matches.

TL;DR: meta has remained stable for long enough that it is finally broadly asserting itself in the QP environment.

I think you are misreading the situation, the 0 - 1, 0 - 2, in the first minute is not an healthy sign of nice brawling games, but the average level of the population plummeting down. Those early kills are clueless players, completely out of position and with no idea where to go in the map.

Pathetic are the players who bring lrms and then vote for polar highlands and alpine peaks, in the hope for once they can get a decent score, instead of their usual below 100 damage. And your jarl screams you are one of those.
