Disagree with this, even at mid range is preferable to alpha strike with whatever laser wep you have and go back into hiding, i have never seen anyone brawl with laser firing them, one at a time. For sustained fire there's ballistic. Anyway, i'm glad that now from a pretty stable 100fps now i manage to get 20 to 40 fps on my 4.6Ghz 5820kl + 980Ti.

que diablo happened to the game?

In truth as I overheat in my Stormcrow I very often shift to single laser fire... plus, you can afford to miss lights and just keep shooting; this way you drive them off and don't waste heat missing with a full strike. ;-) FYI

That's without the skill tree, right?

Also, does that apply to the standard variants or is it just on the hero variant?

people that really need the victor to be even more mobile need to get better loadouts. srsly. use jumpjets and you get mobility.

as much as i blame PGI for some things, the playerbase needs a dose of getting their act together themselves.
the derp they produce in battles is so damn high to not just let them point fingers at PGI and always blame them.

It's not blatantly obvious to me. To me it seems like they're trying to get this right, but at the same time it is a regularly updated online game, so it's a little more acceptable for a patch to be a little off when I'm sure they've got other things going on too, just as long as they get it fixed right away.
Of course I'd be a little more confident in my response if I knew for sure exactly what you were referring to.

So is true for all free online games... but I have to say PGI does reign supreme when it comes to ignoring community feedback

The Heavy Large is definitely going to need some kind of buff, it got hit harder than any other.
Consider, it didn't just lose damage per shot, it also took an equal hit to dps and heat efficiency.
Meaning it now is actually hotter than ER mediums and barely colder than ER larges, while still having much lower rate of fire than either and inferior weight and range respectively, while also being bulky and easy to destroy. This wouldn't be absolutely terrible except that its one main redeeming feature is now reduced.
So to speak it no longer has a niche. ER mediums, ER larges, and Large Pulses can all do similar jobs but better.
I'd be much more comfortable if it had around 15.4 heat and 5.1 cooldown, but even splitting the difference would be preferable to it's current state.

This patch is bad, and you should feel bad - not even counting dropping such a huge ball on the QA.

Please, Chris - and whoever else over there makes balance decisions - call up Full Sail and ask for a refund on those "game design" degrees. You done got ripped off.

Are you joking? Most of them ignore their playerbase completely, this is the only one I've EVER seen actively responding directly to their playerbase. We should be grateful.

Really? The only questionable thing I see is making the Heavy Large Lasers hotter than the ER mediums, and not even slightly readjusting their rate of fire. This was thought out carefully, tested, and based largely on player feedback. Again, you should be grateful. I'm not saying it's perfect but it's more than I've seen from any other major online game.

I am glad the patch showed up in time for me to cancel the now useless WHM IIC preorder. Why does this company continue to ruin this game? The number of really active players who spend money on this game and actually WANT any of this stupid "balancing" must be really small. I haven't found a single FP pilot who agrees with this garbage. Don't think that they matter? Look at the S7 leaderboards and compare those names to the FP leaderboards. Just when I was starting to trust PGI again...

In fact that's a huge positive change to the Solaris reward system... But it's a shame it was only mentioned now Posted Image

Might be because like all things...PGI doesn't think of this themselves... they have to have the obviously pointed out to them by a player. I asked the question a couple days ago as to why the solaris leaderboard even displays people without 25 matches yet in a division, as it skews your actual placing in the standings as far as rewards at the end of season are concerned. In one division I was 220th, but there were more than a hundred above me in the standings with less than 25 matches. You don't show up on the monthly QP leaderboard unless you play 10 matches first. Why is the Solaris board not similarly displayed ?

Ok... just trying to get a handle on where the designers are going with the idea that IS needed more practically heat neutral 50 point ppfld to balance things. The intent here is not to be salty, but i think the obvious takeaway is to spread out clan damage more and more while giving IS the ppfld stick.
Let's think back to dire whale times. Now let's put that dire whale in a smaller, more mobile mech with far better hitboxes and armour quirks. Then another 2. Let's take away the clan erppc heat penalties that kept the ppfld remotely under control. Let's give these mechs better dissipation than you ever saw on a whale.
Now, let's make clan mechs even more dependent on poking with lighter alphas. I read a lot of spreadsheet warrior posts showing how clan laser dps is better than ever in this thread. What i did not see was anyone mentioning the obvious drawbacks of repeated poking in a ppfld environment. I expect that yes, in about 2 or three weeks the ppfld meta will once again be firmly ensconced in upper tier games and it will Severely impact my fun.
And to forestall those who will give me the tired old, "well don't expose yourself " line, i will only say how many of you remember the good old days of getting a st cherry cored in a heavy mech in one shot at 500 or 600 metres?
If we really want to go this route, why not bring back the old poptart cheese? Jumping hit registration never really got fixed. We can bring that back anytime. Cmon, you know your dragon slayers miss you.
I can tell you the designers will justify the ppfld stick by telling you the IS pays in slots and weight to load mechs. They don't suffer that much. Every person above the skill level of lrms knew exactly what the new meta was going to be when they viewed the new quirks.
I'm not in the game to stroke my ego. I play for fun, and i am fairly decent at it. I spend a pretty penny on the game because i believe in supporting my little playground and keeping the lights on at pgi. That will last as long as the game remains fun and the mechs sold in packs seem viable. The clan packs are looking a little suspect...

Its still a broken system where your first ten matches matter more than any matches afterwards as far as your leaderboard rank goes. For example... look at where I finished in division 4. At 1,724 SSR with 33 wins and 14 losses and 0 ties for a 2.36 WLR I finished in 123rd place. There are players ranked ahead of me, with far worse WLR #s, and in fact the guy right above me, is 17 wins and 15 losses. If we need 25 matches to qualify for rewards, the first 25 should also be subject to the wild swings in SSR that currently only applies to the first 10 matches.

Nevermind the problem of players exploiting those first ten matches to drop with friends who'll just let themselves be killed, so certain folks can put up initial #s that'll guarantee them a top end finish and lots of bonus cbills & MC. Players who've not shown themselves to be capable of those results in QP and FP suddenly magically put up ridiculously high win/loss #s. Even if the subsequently lose more matches than they win after the first 10, they're guaranteed a top 100 finish and a nice MC payout.

Played the required 25 games in 4 divisions, was anywhere between 760 and 52xx before the season ended.
Result was: All 4 somewhere between 101 and 500, since I got 4 times the top500 stuff. Neat.

-Actively responding? Some bootlicking you got goin on. No one @ PGI has responded ANYTHING regarding the unwanted balances and have been progressively pushing unwanted changes, they only choose to answer what would cause less controversy, just look at this thread, its a reflection of right about every other.

-HLL's are inherently hotter than ERML's, lore or otherwise... since they're Heavy and also Large, pretty straightforward I think. The fact that Clan Larges and Mediums are so inefficient in this patch is what's making people loose their head. These are not backup weapons in most Clan mechs, it's their entire loadout, at this point, every patch after Civil War update makes Clan tech look dull, game's loosing the flavor of loadouts in exchange for good looking mechs.
