Well sure, but so was the Deathstrike, Annihilator and Piranha. And that's before mentioning the Timber Wolf before that, or the Stalkers and Highlanders before that.

All I'm saying is:

I think we need a proper UAC2 platform. The Night Gyr and MX90 hardly do it justice (beaten by the mega-quirked Dragon), and the Ultraviolet is a clunky square hidden behind a pay wall steeper than the Deathstrike.

Would the Bane be strong? Sure. But would it be game-breaking? I argue No. Even with the luxuries of being a Clan BattleMech, it is tough to fit all the ammo and DHS needed to support them, and moreover there's nothing stopping PGI from keeping the chassis in check the way Night Gyrs, Dire Wolves and Kodiaks are currently: zero quirks, dreadful hitboxes, terrible torso twist and (for two of them) a low max engine size. Finally, even if the Bane was added it could only reasonably bring about 10 UAC2s in MWO, if that -- there's no way to reasonably fit more even with all the options available to a Clan BattleMech.

Sure a 10 UAC2 turret would be strong, but I doubt it would it be the wild insufferable amount of power creep some of y'all make it out to be -- particularly when things like Gauss Vomit, Laser Vomit, twin UAC10+twin UAC5, quad LBX10 and twin Heavy Gauss + MPLs exist.

Also it would make PGI a lot of money, but that's not a good talking point.

Bane's addition of "fun" pales in comparison the potential Clan dakka/missile nerf. The negatives clearly outweigh the positives. No to the Bane.

Wouldn't any good clan that would ever be release would potentially get a clan weapon system to get nerf as way to prenerf or nerf right after the mech have a month or two of endless rampage?

Just a little thought that pop up.

This is my fear.

14 ballistic hardpoints or 8 missile hardpoints ...both look like high likelyhood of nerfs following shortly after the Bane's introduction and nerfs that will heavily impact non exploitive chassis just to bring an absurd outlier into "balance" .

Sadly no, just to much free time using to think about random things.

It won't be an "outlier", it will be the meta that you will see at least one of in almost all matches for a few months at least initially after release. If they can release 12 MG Piranha, they can release Bane. All about when PGI thinks the meta is ready for the power creep. Perhaps IS will get even more defensive quirks to compensate for these types of meta mechs.

So basically, OP wants a bloated overweight Piranha? Cose' that's what the Bane is..

Aren't the 6+ AC2 mechs already in game OP and annoying enough?

PGI, you made a mistake with the Piranha that I warned you about.. now the game suffers cose' of it..

Don't make the same mistake twice.

bane is the same as the kraken correct? cause 10 ballistic 4 engery 100 ton clan mech sounds great! they need a new 100 ton mech "its been years PGI!!"" and the two they have are ok to lack luster. need something competitive that can hold down a line like the annihilator but for clan.

Uhh... not really? I barely even see them.

What I do see are Deathstrikes, which run two Ballistics and supporting lasers, and MCII-Bs, which run four Ballistics. Even on the IS side, you'll more often see Heavy Gauss, or quad LBX10, or the same twin UAC10 + twin UAC5 setup Clan uses, with the very occasional 5 AC5 build. UAC2 boats are just not a thing due to the pay wall and how insanely high their jam chance is, and LBX2 boats are about as common as Bigfoot. Hell, I've seen more 2RAC5+4AC2 Annihilators than AC2 boats of any kind, and that thing offers better sustained DPS than 8 UAC2 ever will.

There are no meta-relevant small-caliber ballistic boats to speak of. It's just not a thing right now, and frankly I think it's a darn shame that we still haven't received something to fill this Bane-shaped gap in the Mech line-up six years down the line.

It is thanks to the Piranha that the MGs--after finally being buffed to relevance--got global nerfs to them, which screwed over light mechs will less than 8 ballistic points. It is easy for some people to spout about how "it is time for a new powercreep", without understanding the significant negative effect the Bane will have on Clan ballistics/missiles, once released.

Not to mention PGI's latest changes indicated that they are trying to lessen IS dependency on quirks, not to increase them.

A 10xAC2 mech is the LAST thing this game needs..

I mean come on guys.. can we pump the powercreep brakes here guys?

I understand, I really do... I want a 10xLRM20 mech too.. but come on.. let's stay normal..
