Or do you mean exclusive weapons/equipment that can only be acquired for MC? If that's what you mean then lolno.

But of course P2W so no way (even if it means +1 damage or -1 heat or +1% range). And oh good how would the coding handle it?
But mostly all immersion has been outlawed so not in our lifetime.

if you want variants of weapons/equipment then just make them available for cbills. there is no reason to hide them in loot crates.

Not sure if I misunderstood your request or if the other posters did. Here's how i interpret it:
Much how PGI will have in-game sales on 'mechs (e.g, 45% off C-bill (and MC) price for BSW-X1, ANH-2A, etc.), it would be nice if they did that sort of sale on weapons and equipment (e.g., "High Energy Sale" for this week only, XL engines are 30% off and all ER and Pulse Lasers are 50% off).
If that's the case, then I'm all for it.

It just creates another barrier new players need to overcome to catch up with experienced players. The difference between a skilled and unskilled mech is already huge, adding more grinding to catch up to a "fully equipped and skilled" mech would make it even worse, especially when you consider the learning curve the game already has.

- Discounts are a function of the store, not mechlab. Even the smallest coding change takes many manhours of work. The change better be worth it.
- Discounting equipment would ruin the U.I. of the store as everything is treated as a discrete object not a class. There are hundred of objects that you would need to scroll through if you discounted engines or types of engines.
- Unlike mechs or swag, equipment generally is not an impulse buy. What is the point of discounting them?
- A temporary reduction in pricing is no different than a temporary increase in earnings. The latter is vastly easier to implement.

The plan there is that you allow players to buy certain things to promote their playing, but not everything is accessible by cash, basically forcing players to play for full access to all the things, with all players having points where they are playing on the same field (MWO does it mainly with the costs of skills but also in ways engines and weapons too). It is pretty common in free to play games, where they don't want to promote a sense of pay to win.
EDIT
Oh I also misinterpreted the meaning there. Random sales on equipment could be cool, they could cycle them around and name each sale season after the super corporations they represent in other areas etc, could be nice extra flavor.

So adding a "Weapons/Equipment" section to the Store would look just like the Inventory screen? Not really a big deal.

This is 100% subjective. I carefully consider before buying a 'mech or swag - even paint jobs when the one-shots are on sale for 37MC.
Weapons and equipment - especially Engines - I buy on a whim. The former to try out a new build, the latter because I don't feel like swapping out my one 350 LFE and, hey, for once I have the Cbills laying around....

Maybe easier to implement, but the fact that someone is asking for the former means that there is a psychological difference. Sort of like JC Penny's temporary switch to "Nothing is ever on sale, we will just always give you the best price that is available." Why not give the people what they want?

I'd say this is your only universally valid argument against.

For example - Instead of something like 500,000 C-Bill rewards from the current FP event, make the rewards something like an LBX 20, Heavy Gauss, or a set of LRM launchers. (Clan ones for clan challenges, IS ones for IS challenges) The idea being - the reward is something you can SELL for roughly the same as the current c-bill rewards, but at the same time, something that allows newer players without a garage full of extra equipment a way to catch up more quickly.
You might have to consolidate some of the challenges to give larger engine-type rewards, but still, something that should be very do-able.
