Not if you like to keep the legal content you paid for. I have a copy of the game data on an external hard drive for just this reason. There's also that sub forum on how to use the mechs in other .programs for fan creations.

The transition to cloud and game-as-$ervice is a real pita for those of us who use to buy games on physical media, got use to baking copies for back up or 'in-case' lost, trading games with real friends and so on.

i expect the haxxors in the community would get to work reverse engineering the client and coming up with a replacement for the server side. remember freelancer?

The game data on your computer isn't enough to run matches. We lack the source code and game engine compilers to properly re-code the game without a major effort. I still have source code someplace for massive programs with tens of thousands of lines of code which I wrote for the government 20 years ago, but without an older computer and the proper compilers to assemble it into a functional executable, fat lot of good that does me.

like that ever stopped people before. machine code is still code and its still mutable.

If there's one thing we can count on it's that we'll never run out of MekPaks™.

Those that preorder get to pilot their Whammy IICs in MW5 because that would sure fit the 3015 timeline...

Actually it would in a way...the Whammy IIC was first produced in 2829.

Yes, but a clan mech would be quite odd for an Inner Sphere based 3015 timeline game.

Someone just forgot to check the extra mechbays on a Wolf's Dragoons dropship before it headed to the Inner Sphere.

MW5 Ends just before the Clan Invasion (the timeline in game advances from 3015 to right before clan invasion). So there's a small bit of wiggle room for a clan mech to be in MW5, but even then the IICs wouldn't be the first mechs seen from a clan invasion force.

Not gonna preorder even with a hint of something "good". I learned way too long ago not to take the word of companies.

All the evidence you need is with other companies.

Not to mention most of the IIC's were first introduced in the 2800's. Unless PGI did something interesting like as an easter egg like make a hidden cameo or engage in a secret skirmish on a moon base with an isolated clan lance, I don't see any clan mechs making it to MW5 unless they purposely threw in the entire MW:O clan roster in for easter eggs and/or modding purposes.

Not even close. The pre-orderer's get their own PGI customized Yugo with a black and yellow interior, with a 1.5 hp engine that runs on salty tears.

They long ago retconned the detail that a number of the Dragoon's mechs which they brought with them, were actually first manufactured post-Exodus and thus completely alien to the inner sphere militaries they'd come to scout. The Annihilator and Imp for example didn't exist outside of Clan space until the Dragoons arrived in the inner sphere.

There will just be news about MW5.

I cannot fathom how some of you believe they put serious resources into MWO anymore...even for something small like a time jump

So. How about that tweet. Did not hear a single word about people that pre-ordered the Warhammer IIC. not one peep.
Further what was actually said about faction play?

Hello all,

Imperius has informed me of this thread.
I haven't read the thread but I did make the tweet.

As to Why I put "If you don't buy it now you will wish you did after Mech_Con... Shhh, I can't tell you why."
I was referring to the Holiday Bonus give away that will give you a Free Warhammer IIC Hero Mech in Feb.

Will jump back in tomorrow morning to read the thread and do a proper response.
