I just want to see drop ships spraying lovely clag across the battlefield when flying over enemy mechs. Large laser occasional scratches that we have now are simply not impressive enough, gimme 6xLRM20!!!

How about if you're getting spawn camped the drop ships land and picks you up because the game is already over. Every mech you save you get 1000 cbills lol

I think everyone can agree the faster a CW match ends the better :)

So you want the defenders to finish the game with 0-12 instead of 24+-48, so they never try again...how cruel of you...

Hmmmm..... now my imagination is running away with me! What about mechs being able to jump from dropships anywhere on the map like in PUBG. This will rule out any form of spawn camping!

Matchmaker would have same effect, if teams are even there is no spawn camping

Then give dropships a 500 meter BAP with combi tag or whatever. Also, who said LRM instead of Lasers? Appearently, dropships can be to easily dodged so indirect fire on top of direct fire might help in that matter.
Give it LRM or Streaks with 360° fire, so no more hiding behind a rock.

Just give those dropships longtoms, if I remember correctly those didn't care about having LoS

? the game is not over just because a drop point is pushed. Statements like this make me wonder if you even play the mode.

**fairly certain this is irony.. not 100% tho

*shrug* I've suggested before that every 2 minutes or so, they drop an original longtom (i.e. nuke) on EVERY drop point. At these times, be found in the drop point at your own peril.

1) It would discourage the spawncamping that seems to get some people's panties in a bunch. I don't mind spawncamping, but some people really seem to.
2a) It would prevent the ability to hide in the drop point and not fight
2b) It would discourage the tendency of some people to try and snipe all game from their own drop point on some maps
3) It might save us the bother of sometimes having to hunt down someone who has been disconnected all match

"Alright guys, wave 1 went ok, lets form up in G6 and work our way forward, watch your flanks

BOOOOM (lolrekt)

ok then, since half our wave 2 just got nuked before they could get out of spawn, on wave 3 lets......"

it would be like the stupid incursion attack ships that were meant to be used to flush out teams hiding inside their spawn, but in reality just shoot you in the back as you try to leave the spawn, and force you to turn around because you have no fkning back armour, therefore actually preventing you from leaving your spawn quickly

Ok, fair enough. Why not add the ability to shoot down dropships? May add a bit of fun!

Agree.

Dropship health for Leopards has 500 points of armor (BT), which is 140 front, 130 each side and 100 on the rear.
In MWO that'd be 1,000 points of armor with 280 on the front, 260 on each side and 200 on the rear.
It has a structural integrity of 7, which is an additional 70 points of health or in MWO another 140.
(So it could take a maximum of 1,140 damage, although you'd be able to disable one at a minimum of 340 damage).

The 3056 Leopard has the following:

(Note each bay acts as a separate weapon turret)
Double ER PPC weapons bay (fires 2 ER PPCs at once) on the nose.
an LRM-A bay (LRM 20+A) on the nose.
Triple medium pulse lasers on the nose.

LRM-20+A bay (right side)
Twin ER Large Laser bay (right side)
Medium Pulse Laser (single) (right side.)

LRM-20+A bay (left side)
Twin ER Large Laser bay (left side)
Medium Pulse Laser (single) (left side.)

ER Large Laser (single) (Rear side)
Twin MPL bay (Rear side).

3 tons of ammunition.
70 Double Heatsinks.

That last part is important. Turrets of MWO had unlimited ammo. Large Laser turrets never had to deal with heat. Actually no turret has the issue of overheating or running out of ammo in MWO. This needs to stop, they need to risk overheat, they need to risk running out of ammo. Even better if ammunition can be brought to field turrets to resupply them (adds another mechanic and something for defending lights to do).

But so long as a dropship is in the air and hasn't yet dropped off mechs, any additional respawns should appear in the same dropship until its full. Its kinda bull to see dropships come down to drop off one mech and seconds later another comes to drop off another; no military would waste resources like that when one could simply have carried 2 to 4.

As Dear Coordinator so eloquently put it: "Die, Clanner!"

According to Mechwarrior RPG first edition:
The very first thing to go during the First Succession Wars well before the 30th century was the Ares Convention.
It was only by the third succession war that needless destruction stopped (including the targeting of schools, kids, religious centers).
It was only then "that an unspoken agreement of something vaguely resembling the Ares Convention came about, not out of chivalry or desire, but out of necessity...for if it continued, there would be no means left with which to fight and no winner to be had."

So the Ares Convention's been thrown out for a few hundred years before the Clans said "Lolgetrekt."

lol shooting down dropships... Now I've read it all.

Think about your suggestions logically. What are you gonna do, stand under the dropship path and shoot it down and thus 4 mechs die? People complain about spawn camping enough.

Or better yet, further convolute things and make the dropship invulnerable for "X" seconds and thus people then simply adjust and wait to shoot them. And then the old dropship bug where it doesn't appear at all, or gets stuck... Can clearly tell people making the suggestions are regulars in the mode Posted Image

Thankfully - if memory servers correct - PGI said the dropships will never be altered in how they work/appear/invulnerable. Thus saving us from raving madness suggestions that have more holes than the 8yo pair of jocks im wearing right now.

I like the idea of dropship killing, but I thought about it and realized that it’s addition would disastrous without proper precautionary methods and still a useless mechanic with them. Dropship killing would end up being a useless feature that would take a long time to develop, just to make the game feel more alive.

Several other features need to be fixed/added first by PGI.

they were removed because Russ thought they were too OP... then he introduced the Long Tom

As a person who playes FW often I just realised a way to make it a much better place:
GIVE DROPSHIPS LURMS.
You might ask yourself: dafaq is this guy smoking? But it actually makes a lot of sense.
1. There will be no more spawn camping. Lurms mostly fly over walls and those crying about spawn camping would be happy.
2. No more hatred towards lurmers (rockets will be everywhere, even without them), hence much less toxic behavior, would definitely make more players pleased.
3. Visual satisfaction from lurms in the sky. Seriously, I find flying missiles in the sky beautiful.
4. It is lore.
5. Instead of just KILLING mechs (like the current dropships do with their LPLs), LRM will cripple mechs(due to high spread), allowing the defending team to finish off crippled mechs, which would result in better K/D of defenders and hence, better mood of defenders. That is actually VERY important.
….
Post more reasons below, I'll add them later.

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Leopard
Dropship should be Stock
2x PPC
3x LRM20
7x ML
5x LL

MWO WC was stockmode, Why not Dropships?
