Started playing in the late 80's. I still have the box set, most of the tech readouts, and about 2 lances worth of minitures. Played most of the Mechwarrior games. Nothing has come close to the fun of customizing a mech and scrapping your friend's design in battle.

I got hooked by Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries (which is one of my top ten games of all time) and a few years ago picked up several copies of the then-new introductory box set with 24 plastic Mechs in. I also bought a few metals (Hauptmann, Daishi, Jenner and Thanatos) from Orc's Nest in Covent Garden. I have since sold off all bar the Daishi and about 40 of the plastics - although most of the plastics will be painted up and sold off over the coming weeks through my website or e-bay.

I am a big fan, but I have found it very hard to get hold of any of the novels, and I didn't know about things like Mech Assault or Living Legends until a few days ago. ;)

Been an Addict ever since...
In fact I still have the original floppies for all the old games.

I was a mecha fan since the 70s and became a roleplayer in the early 80s. I was introduced to the Battletech board game by a fellow roleplayer in 1988 and become rather obsessed from that point on.
Since then, I have read just about every book and played every game.

More than 25 years ago I noticed an odd game set up at a convention table. A gentleman there had set up a massive 3D battlefield using Robotech and random Anime models (and I think one StarWars AT-AT walker) for a game called Battledroids. He had a seat open and invited me to sit down and there was no way I could turn down Giant Robots (thank goodness it wasn't set up in the back of a windowless van).

My friends and I played that for almost 10 years, until jobs and family pulled us in differnt directions, but as fortune would have it, Activition released Mechwarrior 2 (never did hear about mechwarrior 1), and I continued battling through the Battletech universe through Mechwarrior 4. But then game the dark ages, well litterally the Hero-clix Mechwarrior Dark Age, but that was truly a terrible terrible time.

And for nearly 10 more years I waited as Microsoft held the Mechwarrior license hostage, Bill Gates fearing the final rise of the machines, until at last the final boss was defeated and the license saved, and MWO became a reality.

Now if this does well maybe PGI will start working on Car Wars/ Autoduel/ Interstate 76

Via MW3, really.

As far as BT proper - I first took interest when I saw some of the TRO's in a now defunct music/games/video games store.

I could kick myself for not picking them up; they were pre-unseens debacle versions.

Mechwarrior 2. Then I loved the whole thing so much, I bought the books and read them like crazy. The Blood of the Kerensky trilogy really sucked me in. Later on I was even more addicted to playing Mechcommander online on mplayer.com. Good times.

I can't believe I never played BT until basically now.

I'm an older player of the table-top game, from the late 80's.

I saw and bought the "Tales of the Black Widow Company"... :D

I was sold on BT ever since.

Still one of the best scenario books too!

I even owned the original "Blueprint Sets" still in the box.
I finally sold them on e-bay a few years ago for like $50.00 or so.

I kinda wish I hadn't done that now.

I started back in the 80's like a few of us. I watched Robotech religously after school loved it ,then went to my friends house one day and he just got the battletech boxed set. (this was second editon (not 1st battledroids) ,but I stareted reading the instructions and thought how cool it was .The strategic detail was the coolest thing for a board game at the time. even thought we played D&D in thiose days we didnt have maps and tokens to use (we were a bit lazy just imagiantion) this game came with the whole sha-bang,which was just the greatest. form then on It's always been fun regardless of the set up.I loved the video games ,board game ,books, even he Wizkids Darkage game was fun to me.

I was visiting a friend, who had all of the old Battletech PC games (Crescent Hawk stuff). That sparked an interest in the universe, eventually another pal had mechwarrior and then Mechwarrior 2, man I was hooked after that. Yet another friend had all his older brothers TT battletech stuff and we played for years, discovering a year in that we were all playing horribly wrong as all our mechs had mega armor, weapons and seemed to headshot a LOT. Once we corrected and started playing in line with the rules we started having a lot more fun. Been hooked ever since.

I was hooked to BattleTech when I first played Mechwarrior 3 with my Uncle when I was little. Ahh....those were the days....running around in a Super-Nova with nothing but Pulse lasers. As I got Older I started reading the books, looking things up, started my own series of Fan Fiction. I even did a school project on the BattleTech Universe for my English Class...later I found out my English Teacher played MechWarrior and she immediatly gave me a 100% because she wanted to go play the game badly after I talked about it.

One of my mates gave me the original MechCommander game because his machine wouldnt run it. About 2 years later i found MechWarrior Vengeance with the Battletech logo on and thought "saaaaaaay thats....." and when i played it I lost 3 years of my life =D Followed by Mercs and MechCommander2. I bought Mechassault and was devo'ed by what Microshag had done to it.
I also found a shop north of me that sold the figures i got a Hatchetman, Tundra Wolf, Forrestry Mech and a Koshi. If i remember rightly the Forrestry Mech was a gas powered mech always made me laugh to see exhaust pipes coming off it

Got to say that I found a BattleDroids book at a book store in mid 80's. Then the Mecwarrior RPG. Then ALL of the B'tech Universe, until the Choas March and all the Battle Technology mags. Still follow the different iderations. Both Crecent Hawks, MW, MW2, Mercs, MW3, MC and then stopped the eletronic until now.
During early 90's hooked-up with a group by the name of Hampton's Harrassers. Some MechForce top 20 ranked players. To offically become a member of the group each player had to test-out against three pilots with smaller (5 tons smaller) Mechs. You got to love the Wolfhound :P .
Ran table-tops at Huricon and got to final rounds at Dragoncon :) . At which had closing day final Mech Bash with my four other freinds as 3050 Clan against any and all IS. We thought it would take ten or fifteen minutes for twenty player to pick us off. After thrity-five minutes of decapitating (got to love doble box-cars :( ) Mechs (three Altas in two turns with a Ryoken  ) we had to quit.
It has been awhile since I have played the table-top version.

I am looking forward to reboot.

I was in grade 7, I think. This would have been around '90. One of my friends brought TRO 3025 to school, and that was it. We had no idea what game this was apart from something called 'BattleTech'; we were just geeking out over the awesome giant robots. Then I really started reading the fluff and got seriously into this magical universe. I discovered a local BBS called Phantasmagoria that had 'Mech jpegs -- downloaded most of those. =) And then I hit high school and got a job and had disposable income and found BT 3rd Edition at a local comics shop and nearly wet myself. 'THAT'S A WARHAMMER!' screams I. And that was it. Done and done. Being freebirth scum I skipped straight over MW2 and GBL and went to Mercs, then Mech Commander 1 and 2, and then I discovered the Joy of MUX. (Never carred for MW3 or 4 much.)

Of course now I have a wife and kid and mostly dropped out of the gaming world, though I muxed as a tech recently until 3063's playerbase shrivelled up. I'm pretty hyped about MWO and MWT, and I get one or two nights a week that I can game for a couple hours. (World of Tanks is filling the gap til these bad boys ramp up.) Bring it!
