I was playing WoT, and people were complaining in General chat about the balancing system (the game was still in beta). One guy mentioned how he liked the BattleTech balancing system. Being the curious dude that I am, I googled it and here I am! I've never played any MechWarrior board game or PC game - this is the first MW that I will be playing.

Oh, and there was one time that I was searching for good, free PC games, and game across the freeware release of MW4 ... but unfortunately it didn't want to download and that was the end of that that ...

Hey,

i think i was around 15 when i got my hands on MW2... i played it for years and years.
I bought all the novels that came out here in germany at that time, and a BT tabletop game (the one with the big warhammer on the front).
Then i got hooked with the MPBT:Solaris7 on AOL (others used Gamestorm or something) and kept playing all the time untill it got shot down with the GDL.
i switched to MPBT3025 beta of EA Games untill this got shot down aswell
with mw4 most of us were slowly stopping playing with dissapointment and spread around the world of all the different game types...

I remember playing first Mechwarrior games as a kid, and than got my hands on a Mechwarrior RPG book. Me and my friends spent DAYS Role Playing our quests in world of Battletech, fighting for supremacy.

The artwork in the ads got me mid-'80's. The moment I recieved the original boxed set in the mail, I was in love. It took minimum effort to get everyone else I knew playing it. I saved up all my pennies and bought all I could.(It also helped I still am an avid sci-fi reader.)

I started when we got our first computer, right when windows 95 came out. Got mechwarrior 2 with that baby, and I was just captivated by it. It was my first introduction to video games really, but I was too young to take the interest further I never got over how incredibly awesome the concepts seemed to me, and several years later when I entered the world of ordering stuff online, I embraced the full battletech universe and built up a hefty collection on mini's since. Back in the mid-80's a friend of mine would have game nights with his buddies. we'd play speed circuit, star fleet battles and other games. somebody brought battletech and it quickly became my favorite.

I started out playing "Mechwarrior" in 1990, then moved on to MW2/Netmech and Mercs (on Mplayer, Kali), then moved to MW3 and 4 on the MSN Gaming Zone.

I'm patiently waiting for MW5.

I ran across one of the novels in the sci fi section of my local library when I was much younger. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but the back of the book described giant fighting robots!

I was introduced to MechWarrior 3 when I was 6. That game was the one that cemented the Annihilator as my favorite mech. True, if the Atlas had been in there, it probably would have been my favorite, but it wasn't, so even when MW4 came out, I didn't like the Atlas as much as the Annihilator.

Of course, that was also the game that let me strap 6 ER-PPCs and Jump Jets on an Annihilator. I still don't remember whether it was armor or heat sinks that I gave up to do that, but whatever it was, it should not have happened.

In 1994, I needed a book to read on a long trip. Walking around a Books a Million, the cover to "Decision at Thunder Rift" grabbed my eye. I loved it. Picked up the rest of the Saga of the Gray Death Legion, later. Wasn't long before I'd read every BT book. Not sure where along the lines I started playing the TT, but I got hardcore into that, as well. Got to where I'd be designing mechs in my free time at school. I'd nerded out so much over it I could do it without any books. I'd memorized them all. Never played the Mechwarrior games, much. None of them did the books or the TT justice in my eyes. Too open, too easy, no melee, etc. Loved Mech Commander, for the PC. Lot more realistic in the terrain and tactics. Still missed the melee, but that's a small concern, when everything else is done right.

Started with Mechwarrior 3, but honestly didn't know that much about the lore beyond that, nor was I interested. THen it came to the point that I needed a new book for travel. Spotted the Battletech section, bought a few.
Battletech's been a favorite universe of mine since.

Played MW 3 when it first came out on Windows 95 OS.

Read one of the BattleTech novels by Loren Coleman ( Forget title - damn!!)
And then read a couple of MechWarrior novels (Not as good my opinion)

Played MW Mercs and also the demo of MechCommander.
Also tried to download MW4 but with no luck.

Wish I had played a bit of the tabletop BattleTech game though.

When I was 9, my dad bought us our first home computer, a Toshiba. It was my first experience with PC gaming. The machine came with several games, including MechWarrior 2 31st Century Combat. And I loved it! I remember playing the campaigns of both the Falcons and the Wolves, and there were also times when me and my brother would take turns and play instant action (Trials of Grievance). Ever since then, I've had every MechWarrior and MechCommander game to date, except MechAssault.

I also read Prince of Havoc, which I thought was a great novel.

Dont remember the year, but i saw these commercials for an EA game called Majestic. Some real life mystery game, where they email and call you on the phone with clues and such. Game kinda sucked, but at the same time they were advertising a game called BT 3025 and i figure i try it out cause it was free. 2 days later i ended up joining 9th sword of the dragon, and the rest is history.

Mech Commander video game I think was my first experience with this universe. I liked it, so then I started getting the Mech Warrior games. I also played the Battletech card game when it came out. I always wanted to try the Battletech simulators at WotC in the University district in Seattle, but never got the time. I was usually there to play in M:TG tourney's. But those simulators looked awesome.

When I was about 4, my older brothers came home with a new game kind of on a whim: Mechwarrior 2.
That game was kinda my childhood
