Thoughts?

https://mw5mercs.com/

After all this time, I have to admit. I'm tempted. You?

The bonus to the founders is a nice touch. I appreciate the thought.

As for the packages, if you play MWO and spend money in game it's a great deal because you get MW5 and the MWO part of the packages are competitively priced against what you can buy in game (e.g. a mechpack, a bunch of MC, and the standard mechpack bonuses) even without MW5.

I'm not a huge fan of preorders, but if I'm honest I like MWO (despite its flaws) enough that I'll likely be buying the game even if the reviews aren't great, so it's definitely tempting to buy it now and get the extra MWO goodies. Co-op and mod support are big selling factors, so even if the game has flaws the community should be able to push out content to address them.

Get the game for 50 bucks, get bonuses in MWO including 50 bucks worth of MC.
(I'm rounding up, the 99 cent thing is basically a joke).
Get the game for 80 bucks, get bonuses in MWO including 80 bucks worth of MC.
Get the game for 120 bucks, get bonuses in MWO including 120 bucks worth of MC.

Will say its at least what it sounds like.
(Unlike Fallout 76's bottle, canvas bag, etc.)

Another thing, from a logical point, the MC gift would keep a player (or even a new player) invested in MWO even if MW5: Mercs looks to be a far better design (which can be improved, because, mods!), so there's that extra tidbit too.

A quick side note, as someone that rarely buys MC, I can tell you that any purchase that also gives you MC, such as the Solaris order, or the Steam "DLC" that was up for a while, qualifies you for the "bought MC" annual reward. As such this would do the same.

An important question.
What is a "Bi Monthy AMA"?

I was VERY tempted until I saw the August date for beta. 1 month isn’t enough time to fix bugs reported in beta, making this a hype preview rather than a beta. Now I’m only somewhat tempted.

Why so spendy?

What use MC here when no more good mechs?

Skill points/premium? Whatever.

Announced Marauder II. Ok I guess.

Mwo cockpit items and titles. WHO CARES if I bought outside of here? It's a different game correct?

Discord access? Who cares.

Beta access. Ok. I'll bite.

Skins? Whatever.

Mod Access! Yes please.

Can somebody spell out load "cash grab" and "microtransactions" for me?
I dont mind about the one time payment but if they implement microtransactions as well they go down the road as many failed AAA titles in the recent past.

Yes.

Every mobile game ever (except Xcom and 'buy it once' games.)

I don't consider this to be one. Though this is certainly making it very hard to not throw the full lot.
(To be fair, there's a lot to be had for just buying the game at 50...which is a lot better than the typical 60.)

Well, for founders of MWO, I see a lot of value in the double MC thing. And the fact is, many of us are going to be buying MW5, no matter our salt levels in MWO.

Personally, I'm time crunched enough with work, and spend some time online with HBS' BattleTech game. If I'm also playing MW5, how in the world will I have time to drop a few in MWO?

All that said, I'm tempted.

Just as others have said: I will check the reviews of MW5 after it has been released.

Otherwise I will quote the following:

What's end date?

I'm uhh. not sure how to process this.

50USD base package,

120USD for ultimate package.

ultimate package includes a 70USD mechpack,

base package includes a 20USD mechpack.

And that's not including the other stuff they added in either....

so I guess preorder the 50USD package if you want the game cheaper and some other In-game stuff to toy around with.

The only real bummer is that even if I decided to pre-order, a practice I try not to take part in, all that good extra Founder's MC will feel a bit wasted. I haven't played the game in about a year because I'm just burned out on MWO. I had been playing rather regularly since Closed Beta after all.

Still...arrggg… Decisions...decisions.

Regardless of whether I pull the trigger or not on the pre-order, I am glad to see a target release date. I will be looking forward to the game's launch.

They're also giving away between 12,000 to 60,000 MC (depending on founder status), on top of 60 days to 150 days of premium time (30 days + standard pack 30 days for cheapest pack, to 90 days + ultimate pack 60 days), so even if the 100 ton Marauder II doesn't play well for would be new players, they're getting more than enough resources to buy additional mechs/mechbays, and kit them out.

MC at this point of the game's life is meaningless. I have everything. MC is only a means to an end. They dragged their asses so long in MWO that I completed the end goal of pokemech. I reached the end of content, something you never want in a F2P game.

What makes MC so valuable when they give many thousands of it away annually now?

I guess this is for the lazy or the lapsed.

Agreed.
They could triple the MC given and would still be useless to me.

I actually find it odd that they are giving MWO founders a bonus. That was over 6 years ago. Still a good deal though, if you want the extra MWO stuff.

Hopefully you're right and the people who will be already shocked form going from pve to pvp will be able to look over the mechbay full of what i will say is worthless mechs for new player.

I really hope they make a steam pack or something with light, med, heavy, assault.

It's to attract those that quit years ago, and give them an easy start back into MWO. As to owning everything, do you have 500+ mechs?
