I think that there should be more news about MWO than MW5 when a pre-order offer rewards that lean towards the older game. The MWO rewards don't mean much to me although they seem enticing at first 'cause I don't play much anyway (see? even newbies are tired of MWO already) while the MW5 rewards aren't interesting to me to warrant a pre-order.

Old founder member returning, so might have missed forum talk on this.
Interesting buying but MORE information on what style of game we are getting seems to be MISSING from Email.
e.g.
Single player content/missions and/or co-op play?

Last time I preordered a game it was MWO, so I am the target audience. My 0.02: MW5 will be fun, sure, but I'm more interested in the future of the multiplayer side of the franchise. Therefore, I will not be buying anything unless/until they reveal their plans for PVP multiplayer. Will MWO stay as it is? Will it be revamped with new engine/assets/etc? MWO2? Need more information.

Pre- order done, I have gotten my moneys worth from MWO, and look forward to playing MW5- A little early money won't make the game worse.

Co op allows 3 friends to join you. But their joining you on your mission is in the same campaign you're running for yourself. Supposed to be a sandbox like past mechwarrior mercenaries entries with something of a storyline and a lifetime of merc work.

Preordered the standard pack cause I know I'm gonna play this game a bunch and despite MWO's flaws it is the game that I've played the most in my life.

Wouldn't mind the beta test being a little earlier but it's not the end of the world.

someone said August, which is a month before the game is due to be released

so in other words, too damn late for our feedback to be of any use. no sale.

will probably just get the basic version as im not really that interested in coming back to mwo, and the pre-order bonuses for the new game are minimal.

Well, as many people have said, it's really not a beta- it's "early access". It's more about creating buzz and having content hit Youtube for the free advertising.

The story is already written and the missions planned. Any feedback needed was provided under NDA by true beta testers a long time ago.

As a participant in early access, you get perks that may or may not have value to you in exchange for a bug-riddled game with the possibility of game-breaking glitches. You should not participate in early access if that sounds like a bad thing.

edit: grammer (more coffee, please)

After the colossal failure that was gaming in 2018, I'm surprised anyone preorders games at all anymore, let alone buys into the "early access" cancer that is releasing games unfinished and expecting players to be paying beta-testers. Fallout 76, Atlas, Battlefield V, among many others that were supposed to AAA titles all failed to even deliver a completed product, let alone a worthwhile gaming experience. And that was on console. PC has been using the DLC/patch crutch for a lot longer than console games have.

I'll wait until the reviews are in to buy a copy.

I'm with you on this.... I waited from 2012 till 2017 to join this game ! And, it wasn't even close to the sales pitch in 2012 !

I'm not doing anything till a well rated game reviewer gives it a B to B+ to start..... Any rating under a B is "status quo" PGI and Gosh knows, I've wasted enough time in status quo, no growth games....

Pre-orders continue to survive due to two populations - People too young to have any frame of reference for their dangers, and old people with a lot of money who will just shrug off any game's failure and move on to the next pre-order.

I'll probably preorder, even though I'm more interested in multiplayer than single player. I want MWO to survive, even though I wish it was better. I think it's a mistake to sacrifice the good for the perfect.

I am somewhat torn.

On the plus side:
- I'm a Founder, I've spent as much money on MWO over time as I have on any other game. I consider all that money well spent (for the value and entertainment I've received).
- I truly appreciate the efforts PGI has done to resurrect the BattleTech franchise (as per the points made in the
https://mwomercs.com...gi-for-mechcon/ thread)
- I think PGI has crafted a solid Mech shooter in MWO
- The PGI customer support team has always performed to high standards, as has the art/design team.

On the minus side:
- Having been active since Beta, I am really, really unimpressed with the overall pace of development from the PGI team. It's like they worked their butts off to get the base game implemented, and then have been phoning it in since about 2015. (I've got a 5-year B.Sc.(H) in CompSci, I've developed and written multi-player online games, I've run several businesses over the years; yes I can tell when a production team is just dicking around with no real progress being made.)
- Similarly, since Beta, PGI has regularly boggled my mind with some great customer outreach and initiatives, mixed in with even more situations where they not only shot themselves in the foot with bad decisions/handling/delays, but literally vaporized all the feet in the room with heavy pulse lasers)
- MWO is a good, entertaining shooter. But I don't play BattleTech for the shooter aspects. I play BT for what was there in Crescent Hawk's Inception, in MechWarrior, MW:2 and MW:4 (and the others, but those were the highlights for me). Story. Lore. Meaningful travel and trade. Developing a pilot team. Mission/goal oriented play. Meaningful character development. So far, PGI has not shown me they have any grasp of these elements.

Those are the primary concerns, they pretty much balance each other out. The decision is close enough that I can honestly say that if it was priced in Canadian dollars I would likely pick up the Standard or Collectors edition, and since they are priced in $US (30% exchange rate surplus), I've bought nothing. That's how close the decision is balanced for me.

I really want to support PGI. I'm really uncertain that they can deliver the MechWarrior I want to play.

Single player campaign is what is promised with 4 person co-op for the missions, but that was the mechcon presentation on it.

Heads up: according to Kanajashi, the MWO rewards will become available well before MW5 ships, but if you redeem ANY of the rewards (including joining the Discord server, apparently) you lose the ability to get a refund for MW5. Just thought people should be aware.

After watching video I will pre-order it to support MWO. Good to see use of aerospace & infantry.
Maybe too early for content and features list? this to help sell it.
e.g.
Features:
  • Overcome more than 120 immersive puzzles in a stunning world.
  • Divert drones, manipulate laser beams and even replicate time to prove your worth - or to find a way out.
  • Explore a story about humanity, technology and civilization. Uncover clues, devise theories, and make up your own mind.
  • Choose your own path through the game's non-linear world, solving puzzles your way.
  • But remember: choices have consequences and somebody's always watching you.

BTW I copied this from another NON combat game :) Just an example.
Free stuff with your game without telling your buyer what's in game not going to help sell it.
