I believe that MW5 can thrive with on a games on a service model that many F2P games are doing. These games feature single player story lines, with coop and collectible features. And they make a killing out of it. However, these games require a constant appetite of content that includes events, new story chapters, maps and of course heroes, weapons and stuff.

I expect there will be a lot of stuff not seen yet.
The combat looks fine. I hope for some serious depth in the merc management. I was a little dissapointed with MW2:Mercs with the scripted salvage originally, that was later patched... and much later I got the internet and actually got to patch it. That aside, the company management was okay.
MW4:Mercs the company management was good, I felt there was rather limited control over the overall destiny of it however.
Battletech, they are patching it in as time goes on, but now everything is going behind the classic Paradox million DLC paywall, so I need to wait a couple of years for it all to go on sale.
MW5, I would like to be able to really feel like it is a merc company. Yeah, overarching campaign with some time limits, but plenty of proceduraly generated missions and planetary campaigns would be fantastic. A storyline besides "you're a merc company... but you're working for this one dude all the time, now they have betrayed you, so you are working for this other dude, now gameover".

I'm a "non salty" founder so the bonuses were nice.
$50 isn't that much to risk for what you get. IMO.

I'll be buying it. ( It's better than giving a company like Blizzard, Bethesda, or EA my money lolol )

I tend to agree...if people haven't experienced any of the World of Tanks/Warships/Planes games by Wargaming.net, they would be in for a real eye-opener about how much better the deals and perks are here in MWO.

Same...
The release is just shy by a few months for the steam sales, so... if it's not selling as well as they think, they will run it with a discount that I will be watching and waiting for.

And I seriously doubt I'll actually buy the completed game as it's not a tangible disc one and PGI will inevitably keep trying to tinker (**** it up) every five minutes.
Plus if it's not modifiable even less chance.

I've been around MWO since closed beta so I know better.

I actually believe PGI will do okish with mw5 cos single player dynamics are something pgi's mechdad leadership team can deal with.

So you're really going to ignore it for the closed beta. Really? Are you going to play MWO at any point in the future after MW5 is out?
Even if it's 1/2 off, so like $25 off, you're still getting a better value in the pre-order.
I think almost everyone in this thread saying 'nope never' and even more entertainingly the 'I have been playing MWO for ever and know better than the preorder' are fooling only themselves. They'll buy it shortly after release or even during the closed beta, spend close to or the same as the preorder price and just not get all the associated perks of the preorder.
As I said elsewhere I'll say here again -
You are all weak or you would have walked away from MWO a dozen forum tantrums ago. The vast majority have bought other mech packs after saying 'my wallet is closed'.
The preorder perks for MW5 are bordering on insane. You can't say I haven't been brutally critical of PGI a hundred times but the reality is that unless MW5 is and will always be, never getting fixed, a total pile of trash I'll buy it. If I'm going to buy it anyway why don't I enjoy the developer discord, the closed beta, the MAD II (which I likely would have gotten anyway) and a metric ton of MC plus a pile of cbills and GXP not to mention months of premium time.
Just preorder. Don't be stupid about it. You're going to spend the money on MW5 and you'll find a use for the MC and premium time and other goodies. This isn't even about tacit approval of PGI - MW5 is in the can. It's done, they're doing it, it's going to be released and patched up and the like. They're also going to get your money from it sooner or later. You're throwing away far more than you're saving by waiting - and you probably won't wait that much after info from closed beta comes out and mods hit the scene, etc.

I really do not care about the goodies for MWO because I can not buy anything for which I'm really interested (if not really nice Bolts or Nose Art Decals appear), but you can improve and change Mechwarrior 5 with the modtools, be creative yourself, even if the servers for MWO are switched off for a long time and then maybe a modding MW5LL is coming

It is singleplayer vs AI so will bore me stupid most likely unless there is a GREAT story behind it.
Also unsure of the effect it'll have on mwo. I hope that many of the supersolos don't abandon mwo for it.
PGI have a track record of being awful at community engagement i.e the complete lack of social options in game. No in game recruiting tools nor social faction tools. Group play isn't encouraged AT ALL.
The creation of the solo queue was the biggest indicator they didn't get "it."
Same team doing MW5.....

Don't be so sanctimonious!
I've had very large stretches of time where I have not played. I can only manage very short runs nowadays.
I don't really play singleplayer games outside of rpgs.
MW5 is nearly all singleplayer. Co-op games are ok, but still vs AI. that gets dull really, really fast.
It is being done by PGI who have made a very serious hash of community in MWO.
The pre-order bonus to me is largely worthless because I don't play enough, the MAD 2 doesn't interest me in the slightest. It's bribery to get people to pre-order.
Now if MW5 was a modern updated MW4 with online play in the same vein, I might be interested. but it isn't. It's single player vs scripted AI.
*yawn*
If the story is EXCELLENT I might play it, but $50 is too step a price.
Don't be so dis respectful.
