“PGI did listen to the community.”
“No, not *that* part of the community!”
The Blood Asp is a decent assault, ECM and high mounts and clan tech make it competitive, and better than many other assaults. I swear, unless they release a new Madcat II-B, Slipnjr or Scorch, people will complain it’s unusable. People are just touchy when things they want to be OP come out only about average. People then complain about power creep if something that competes with the top few is actually released.
I’m kind of glad PGI doesn’t do everything the community asks, because on most issues it’s quite schizophrenic and fickle.
Actually PGI listened to a small portion of the community on Twitch. The feedback on the "Official Forum" right here was overwhelmingly negative in response to the proposed change. I counted in the threads back then and it was something like 70-80% saying, "NO!! Don't nerf the Blood Asp with those silly long weapon pods".
Also of the people commenting even on twitch, there were very few outraged by the short pods with most just saying they would have preferred the longer pods. On the other side, there were a ton of people pretty outraged by the nerf, including myself.
That being the case, I think defining the change as "Listening to the community" is kind of a stretch.

Mech lab has a skewed perspective. Those cannons aren't as big on the battlefield and you have a full control over what part of your mech to expose/hide. I mean, what's next? Are we going to complain about marauder's CT hitbox being too wide?
Now cut the length in half and thing about how much smaller and harder to hit the hitbox would have been had they left the shorter length pods in the game. Adding 30-40% to the surface area of the side torso is a pretty big nerf and brought the overall durability of the mech down quite a bit but hey gosh darn it, It LOOKS GOOD!!!
