Shame the bodies and legs (and weights) couldn't have more variation given the fluff of these monsters...(or the names), but.. I like it.

Think of it like this... 95t across all variants despite arms or not arms or one arm is because 95t is the carry capacity of the legs on Corsair.
Dear god, that's one messy sentence.

Dear god, that's one messy sentence.

We're playing Front Mission / Armored Core (legs determine weight you can carry)!!

Meh.
Pity Sarna doesn't allow fan creations; I'd populate it with pirate-practical mechs (can you imagine any pirate raid where the mech is slower than 30 miles per hour?....because the Corsair is.)

Although in truth there is Battletech logic in what you're saying.

For example the Powerman is 35 tons.

But 4.5 tons of that is cargo mounts, that when unloaded actually makes it 30.5 tons..

Yet its also flawed, as the Powerman can carry 4.5 tons in cargo + 35 tons in the arms coming out to 39.5 tons + its own weight = 74.5 tons that the legs could handle..
<.<
Dun...dun...dun!

Gotta love BT logic.

After taking a hard look at the mech, I find myself looking for more parts that I can identify.
Lovin' the bulldozer blade, the winch, The rollbar with all the different spotlights, the straps holding parts of it together,
The general worn and torn look of most of the armor panels. It sums up the cobbled together nature of a Pirate mech

It maybe ugly, but like Oscar the Grouch, ya gotta Love it.

And So it shall be named.....I dub Thee...."OSCAR"

Just so you, and everyone else, are aware, it was mentioned during Mech_Con that the Corsair is designed to look as if it's made of other mechs (I personally see pieces of Fafnir in the legs and Roughneck in the torso), but it's actually 100% new sculpt.

Thanks a lot pgi for swapping arms around on hero corsair, I sure didnt expect that to happen, I was expecting two high ballistic hardpoints on that mech, one in right side torso and one in left small "arm" but now it seems that the hero will have normal left arm. Not a very pleasant suprise, not at all. With that change value of that hero mech diminished in my eyes sadly.

I must be the only one probably not surprised by this...

Head 1 Energy
Left Arm 1 Ballistic, 1 Energy (Actuators: Upper, Lower, Hand)
Left Torso 1 Energy, 1 AMS
Center Torso 1 Energy
Right Torso 1 Energy 1 Ballistic 1 Ballistic
Right Arm 2 Energy (Actuators: Upper)

Even my January 12th Megamek build of the Ravager has a Left Arm with a full hand, while the right arm just has the upper actuator.

In the thing Megamek fight where it is fighting a Piranha and grapples with the Piranha (grabs it)...damaging the head (as it grabbed the Piranha by its head)...it was while using the Left Arm's hand.

Perhaps...read into what it is? They're not going to remake the art for every variant when they are visually so different.

Oh I realize that its a mash up of leftovers form the junk pile ( I DID read the lore, BTW)

My Comment was not a criticism of the mech. I was just pointing out what I saw, and having fun while doing it.
I am a Clan Loyalist but happen to LOVE this particular mech

BRING IT ON OSCAR!!!!

I've never been a fan of these IS asymetrical mechs, but I gotta say: this one looks pretty good. PGI should make more original mechs. I see no reason why there can't be more mechs than those that appear in the lore, and the mechs they have already come up with are pretty cool.

Meh I don't play megamek and I cant remember if I ever noticed "lower hand actuators" on left arm while looking at that variant or not, if I would notice that I'd probably think it is a mistake, that would not be a first mistake on this website. Afterall I sure cant remember if there was ever a mech released with arms swapped like this, so very different than what we could see on the artwork, not that I have perfect memory but still this is somewhat unpleasant suprise.

While I don't like the mech per se, the models, especially the variations of the variants, are very well done. Nice to see that you took the chance to have visually very distinct models.

I made it a point around the same time to post out there (in multiple threads) that every variant had differing arms. So I was never caught off guard (compared to the ones I built in January based on what was provided, all the Corsairs and their arms match up).
(I'm aware that not everyone reads my posts, but just saying its been around.)

Some had "no arms", some had a left only, some had a right, and at least one had both. Which makes sense considering the fluffed nature of the mech.
http://www.sarna.net...air_(BattleMech)
Course, what would have made even more sense is that between each variant, their weights and sizes also differing since "corsair" covers frankenmechs made in the periphery ranging from 60 to 100 tons...
But I know that's not practical considering MWO.

If its any consolation....
The Corsair 7A has exactly what you want.
All high points for weapons, 3 ballistic slots.
(It also carries 4 AMS)

As a side note; I'm quite happy where the LT ballistics are as I fully expected them to replace the dozer blade under the cockpit or go down by the hip.

You caught me by surprise.

Then I realized something: That's because there are no left torso ballistics on any mod--oh.
The Holiday hero.

Considering where the other ballistic is (on the arm)... I think I would have liked (or simply not cared) if they did exactly what you mentioned... (no wait take that back, the smoke over the cockpit would be unbearable).

I really love this junk heap! PGI got good at creating their own mechs. I didn't like the Roughneck at first (though i've changed my mind), but i really like the Sun Spider and the Corsair, they fit very well.

I would love to see more of these. Maybe medium or light mech, PGI haven't done them yet. Something to be as meme worthy as the Urbie, but boxy and magnificently ugly as this one.
Somehow image of the Wolverine from Tiberium Sun comes to mind, just with more orky parts.

Hey, I thought we were gonna be working on getting mechs updated with better mobility. Clunky mechs are unfun to play.

Could we get armor quirks instead? Or buff the structure quirks to +30 everywhere? Because if it's going to be this big and this slow, lord knows it'll need more than quirks.

Wait, when was this announced!? The WHM-IIC current scale is the only thing keeping the Bludgeon from being total garbage!
