Even more fallout from the Russ-pocalypse: PGI has made it into a Dirty Devs video!

Everything gets summed up real nicely.

one question i want to ask on the matter. i have preordered this game for the collectibles and what not when they launched it. i assumed it was going to be given out as a steam key. what i want to know is will the key be converted to a epic games key or is it just redundant. havent found any solid info telling me what will happen to the original preorder.

any inof will be appreciated.

Any preorder, also your preorder will be converted to EPIC if you do not request a refund.

I remember a day, i used walk into a store. Saw a game on shelf, decided buy it. I owned it forever. Not partially own it, or have right to play it through a special connection.

Now this murky situation is worse now, with exclusive deals between parties who may or may not be desperate. I blame players for allow it to happen, but game producers in past who asked too much for a game per unit (aka per box). Now look where we are. Questionable providers of games, questionable portals you have go through to play something your suppose to have owned in the first place.

Crash and Burn.

Well Triple A titles are the only games most stores will stock anymore, and the way triple A games have been lately indie games have been on the rise; all of which only available via digital means. The last three or four, triple A titles that I bought I got from a brick and mortar store.

PGI's position is that you will take your EPIC key and thank them for not altering the deal any further, or you can get stuffed. They do not plan on fulfilling the original terms:

I wonder how cheap the game will be on steam on sale in a year and few months.

Having 0 issues with it and having a lot of fun. Don't even need to touch the epic game launcher unless I want to do coop, and creating a mod to make the coop work without needing EPIC is, apparently, super easy as well.

Currently though enjoying the campaign.

While im not crazy for MW5 (might get it down the road when its cheap and nolonger new like most of the games i own, old crap that is still good and either cheap or free/F2P depending on how old it is), i see this as nothing but alienating certain users, and while steam's cut is very high, im pretty sure twice as many if not more sales would generate better revenue in the long run even if epic is cheaper.

That, and i have a bad feeling that exclusivity is just going to encourage piracy, just like overreaching DRM like always does (i cant think of a single game that hasnt been pirated somewhere down the line, and im pretty sure this is no exception). So yeah, maybee im not a buisness exec and dont quite see the big picture, but im pretty sure you guys are just going to loose alot of potential customers (myself, i hate steam, but if i did get this id rather get it on there or GoG and not have to deal with stinkin DRM/cracking games), and will defenetely loose more money to piracy as many many gamers have steam, and would rather not add another bloated crap launcher to their PC, and piracy, despite being legally and morally wrong, makes it far easier to get games without installing loads of crap to get it...

"Help! I'm getting a verification error! EGS is telling me I need to re-verify ownership." rather than contacting support.

Look, exclusivity is a **** business model and I hate it. Same reason I won't get an XBox or PS4 - they both do exclusives all the time and I'm not going to buy consoles just to play a specific game.

However the piracy argument isn't an argument. Any POS who'd pirate a game 'because I don't like the DRM/Launch Platform/What the dev said on twitter/any other lame excuse you want here' is saying they'll steal something because they don't like whatever else associate with it. Anyone who isn't a POS would just.... not buy it until it's within their justification to buy it.

Piracy happens because some people are the sort of ***** that steals stuff and is looking for an excuse to justify being that sort of ***** so they can pretend that they're not actually a thieving POS for being a thieving POS. If someone doesn't want to buy it then don't buy it but making decisions about what platform you launch on because people are saying 'Do X or I'll just steal the game' isn't a real argument.

The game is awesome. Having a ton of fun with it. If people want to wait a year to get it, great. You do you. Not a fan of how PGI handled the switch to Epic exclusive and I really dislike Epic exclusives in general, but end of the day this ended up no different from if I'd just bought it from a PGI website (like I did before MWO went to Steam) because I don't use the Epic launcher to play it anyway.
