Update:

Seems like the fix is working on getting rid of the Error 63. The new version of PTS will go up later this afternoon around 4PM PDT (Google says this is 11PM UTC).

- We also were able to disable the beep linked to the countdown timer. We've replaced it with an air horn (not really).
- Story box on the mission tab should also scroll so you can read the whole thing.
- Phase timers are still being discussed but with the fix to Error 63, we can shorten it pretty drastically.

Will update again in the early afternoon to let you know the full details.

I greatly appreciate the effort that was put into the event system for FP. However, the constant beeping for 30+ minutes while the timer counts down is excessive. So far, the shortest wait time has been 30 minutes. I recommend ditching the tier system and using average score as the determining factor for placement. If the tier system isn't dropped, then there should be a minimum requirement of tier 3 or higher to play in FP.

The dropping of the lobby with a full group also removes any incentive of attempting to play FP. This is done by removing ghost drops which reward players for attempting to play FP when there is no opposing team. While this is a start, I do not think releasing a temporary change to the MM system (which doesn't seem to work) will maintain the player base.

Is there a way to track match progress for the PTS? If not, there needs to be one. Also, to better improve participation in the PTS, there should be rewards for each game played. For example, each game played in the PTS should include x amount of cbills for the active account or x amount of MC. This would likely increase PTS participation, which would increase games, which increases the amount of data obtained through the PTS.

So far, I have played 3 games and each had a 30-45 minute wait time. I have been fortunate to have not experienced the error 63 though. i have encountered players who are AFK for half the match though...

So the new countdown timer que makes the game flash when you are alt tabbed every time the timer goes down, makes it totally useless now as you almost never get a game the first time around so its just always flashing...

I played 2 matches tonight(more tomorrow) & the only issues I had were being disconnected from the server while in the mechlab(could be any number of things like my ISP, router or server side???) & also the countdown timer wasn't showing. I moved group lead to someone else & there were no more issues with that.
The matches were good all round, some of the best FP I've experienced.
The 1st was a very short wait & then a very, very close fight on polar that went the whole time & we won by 2 kills in the last 30 seconds.
Match 2 took about 20 minutes to find & was another reasonably even fight on Forest Colony that we lost.
Keep trying to get the matches in guys! The more we play the more data ButPaul & the others get. Then, those that took part can say that 'we' helped to make Faction Play great again. Posted Image

You just wait while the timer resets over, and over, and over...?

Edit:
Number of competitors in que is up to 19 back down to 17.
How many does it take? 24? It said "26" for a while.

Maybe that's something PGI should consider changing. Long wait times convince people not to play faction warfare, and the wait times could be shorter if we weren't waiting for one side or the other to find the 12th PUG.
Maybe FW should go back to the old 8v8?

Is it possible to make it so we can switch sides with this update aswell? That'd be very helpful since the queue atm is 18-4...

Might not be relevant, but I have been unable to log into the PTS on my account, "Incorrect email/password" error; despite it being the correct login information.

I assumed this was because my account simply doesn't exist on the PTS, but I was also curious if there was a quick fix for this?

Yes, we waited & didn't restart the search as you lose your place in the queue if you do(it states this in the countdown window)

Missed this for the most part.
Ill be queuing tn, if anyone wants to pick me up.

Read through a lot of the talk of elo/matchmaking here. Don't want to add more random domains but would much rather see a base increase in loyalty at 15%, not cbills and XP. Or a few tweaks to that system in general. just throwin' out there.

Update:

Okay, here we go...

1) Error 63 should be gone
2) Beep warning should be gone
3) Story text should scroll if needed
4) 3 phases are now divided into 1hr for phase 1 (the fist scouting story point), 2hrs for phase 2, 2hrs for phase 3. This is a total of 5 hours for a complete conflict.

Patch will be going up at 4PM PDT (11PM UTC).

When it comes to rewards, don't worry about tracking.. we have the ability to measure everyone's participation and will give you some cool stuff on top of what Matt put in the event.

People having trouble logging in, when was the last time you changed your password? You may have to use the previous password to log in. PTS does not use the live database.

Switching sides: You can do this every time a conflict has been completed (at the end of the 3 phases).

I should pay closer attention to stuff. I didn't know anything about this until today, and now.....seems like getting matches takes for-ev-er. Oh well :)

I knew I would regret it as soon as I downloaded the portal.. nothing but errors and freezing trying to install pts. The latest problem is it's stuck downloading applejack.pak after running repair tool..

The test server must be pretty sketchy:
I got disconnected from the testing grounds, and now that I've logged back in my screen has said "LOADING" for 5 or 6 minutes now.

Dafuq?!?

These are stored on your local machine, PGI can't import them. There was another post about this...

The PTS files are located here:
C:\Users\[your username]\Saved Games\MWO PublicTest\Profiles\[the profile you need]\
You can copy over the actionmaps.xml file to move your keybindings.

If there is enough interest from the community for a tool to do stuff like this, maybe I will code one.
