I read the post that explains how to copy key maps to PTS. Which of the XML files contains the video settings?

Just an FYI when I went to Exit the Queue it was stuck in cancel mode for 5 a long time had to kill the game to recover.

So I got 3 4 scouting games in, then I looked at the events tab and saw that there was no active event, will I still get the PTR reward in this case?

I believe right now the only way is to guess, but I will say I was one of those that got into the first 53 matches and got that 1 million injection, so it definitely feels like they're tracking everything accurately.

Many good points vonJerg.. but THIS,, this right here. Thank you for confirming for me that they haven't bumped up the lobby countdown timer from 1 minute. Me and my crew have been asking for this to be increased for I don't know how long. Because it's such an easy fix, there's no other excuse.. it's proof that PGI doesn't listen, doesn't wanna listen, and/or doesn't seriously play their own game.. for if they did, they would instantly realize 1 minute is not enough time to prepare a deck for a quality match. It needs to be bumped up to 90 or even 120 seconds..a small time sacrifice that will help guarantee quality matches.

This inanely short countdown has ruined COUNTLESS MATCHES and apparently will continue to ruin moar.

I'm downloading the install base now. Never messed with PTS before, but I'm happy to help for the rewards.

I don't understand the timeframe reference to this challenge. There's mention of a 6 hour window between challenges/phases....? Can this be completed over an evening playing 4 matches, or will it take several days?



EDIT:
Btw, does the warhorn have to be from the faction I'm already in? Or can I choose another?

Just got my 4 games. My last game took forever to find like 10-15 minutes. There were a few times the que reached 9 competitors, but I still didn't get picked. Maybe my ELO is too high?

This is a bit of a minor nitpick. But if you are going to have a story-based event for FP you need to match up the right people with the era. Janos Marik died in 3035 from a bombing incident during the Andurien Succession, so Thomas Marik (the fake one) would be the appropriate choice for the event. I get that this is a test for the new FP (which is why I'm fine with it so far, so I understand), but in the future, I hope you can use more time-wise accurate characters.

Gosh, I hope the "win condition" for a scouting phase is not going to be raw wins. If that ends up being the case, I can easily see nothing but teams of 4 stealth armor Pirate Banes capturing one intel point and then smoke diving.

I love the idea of combining scouting mode with FP. It's more interesting that way, and you don't split the queues between scouting & invasion mode.

I'm pretty sure that the current conflict has been in scouting mode for several hours now, which seems like overkill.

90 seconds in the lobby instead of 60 would go a long way towards improving gameplay by letting us put together better dropdecks.

For scouting mode, the 10-second countdown is actually too short. I usually have MWO minimized when I'm searching for a lobby, and this way the icon keeps flashing every 10 seconds whether I actually have a lobby or not.

Easy fix, match cant end if the enemy is in the drop zone.


This should have been fixed years ago. I really wish Paul would add some improvements to scouting so people would hate it less. I personally like 4v4 as its easier to find 4 friends than 12 anymore.

Hey, sorry for noob stuff, buy I have no idea how to get into PTS to do this challenge. I've installed the MWO Public Test, did the update shortcut where I stopped the patch update, copied my MWO directory into the PTS directory cleanly, then ran the repair tool, but when I run "MWO Public Test", it just looks like some kind of launcher to various websites, and I can't see how to get into the game. What am I missing?

Click on MWO Public Test on the left. Then click "Play" on the bottom right. And off you go!

As far as the testing goes it did seem that the matchmaker worked some what better. Was for the most part up against other PUGs who seemed to be as bad as me Posted Image . Only once got put up against a 4 man pre--made. Small sample size tho cuz not a lot of people on the server.

Looking forward to the whole story line thing, I believe having the scouting help determine the 12v12 modes is a good idea.

Will try some 12 man drops when that becomes available.

It seems like the event description (in upper right) is messed up.

Also: it would be nice if we could track the event on the PTS so we can have confirmation once we've completed the challenges.

This is not a viable test at all. The only time the queue was high enough to really perform a sorting function was yesterday evening when 40ish people were stuck in queue and nobody got drops. The MM literally failed at the only thing it was supposed to do. If you feel like you had fewer terribads on your team, no doubt you did. But that is not from the MM. That is selection bias for the kind of people that play the PTS.
When it goes up to 12 mans, we would need about 50 people all dropping in a 9 second period to test the MM. The really screwed the pooch on this PTS.

We needed longer queue timers (60 seconds as a bare minimum) to actually test this MM. This whole thing is just embarrassing.
