i am 100% more happy with additional maps then more mechs
after you have a hundred or so mechs the value of mechpacks goes down significantly. they do keep the doors open so pgi can maintain their standards of mediocrity. so far the only ones who buy them are either the grognard whales who buy anything, and the new players who dont own anything.
pgi are totally underutilizing the buying power of the people who want to see other areas of the game fleshed out, but who know that buying mechpack will not see that happen. id like to see weapon packs be a regular thing. weapon varients could be sold en masse with the same 3 month exclusive access before they come up for mc. more stuff should be purchasable with mc. for example i would buy gsp outright if that was possible.
idk how you would allow players to directly fund map development. perhaps do something like the tornament supporter pack, except to fund map dev. there could be map drives where any content bought during that time will apply some fixed percentage of the profits directly to map development. it would both bolster sales during that time and allow people to vote with their wallet. right now voting with your wallet feels like the only things on the ballet are more mechpacks or game death.
of course at this point its all a few years too late.

"big announcement"
like last time there was a "big announcement" all it meant was an additional chassis.

Gets very difficult to introduce another mech that would be significantly different to one that would already be in the game.
your last point is quite relevant though.
Newer players who missed the earlier pre-orders still get the chance to buy in on the new packs and it is fun and exciting to get early access to these mechs and there is always a mech out there that someone will want because it was a favourite.
Without the team investing some development time into mechs like the quads (*cough* Elementals!! *Cough*) though, it's hard to see anything new that would provide a different pilot experience.
That said, I do enjoy seeing the artwork for all the mechs.

I would have thought they could do 'Faction Mech Packs' with one mech of each class that was considered a staple mech for that faction.
A simple 4 pack with a light, medium, heavy and an assault.
Treat them like the special variants and give them a unique camo scheme that could match one of the units from lore.
Give them a special -5 tons when counting towards drop deck tonnage so a 100 ton mech only counts as 95 (etc) when toatlling the drop deck tonnage.
That way it is very specifically geared towards Faction Play with the intention of funding development in that area of the game.
Might be able to do something similar with mechs tailored towards certain maps.
ie. New desert map combined with a pre-order of mechs with a special desert camo.
Got to be careful of giving the mechs features that would give them an advantage over other mechs particularly if these mechs can only be purchased with $$.

Might be.
Any development at this point likely needs to remain within the bounds of what we already have.
Still.... one can always hope for more.

i wouldnt mind if we stick to mechpacks, maps, and weapons, all of which pgi can do. im pretty sure they could do spheroid omnis if they wanted, they might be holding that in reserve for when things get desperate. it feels like the game is in limbo when most patches are just balance tweaks and a mech pack.

This should have been a quirk for mechs performing punching below their weight anyway:
Dropweight -5 tons
It makes them more viable for dropdecks in FW and helps the matchmaker compose teams in QP that aren't so lopsided.
Just got to be careful dealing with 60t mechs due to scouting... unless you want to add -50t drop weight to the Atlas... you know... Steiner scout lance and all...
