Just to clear it up, I need to copy the MWO folder from the Steam install directory into MWO test folder but here's the folder structure for me ....

Inside the Piranha Games folder, I see MWO Portal and MWO Public Test. So, do I copy the main MWO folder into the MWO Public Test folder?

I remember the time i was not in an unit, Solo-Pugger and tried out Faction Play for the first times.

There were like, idk, 9-10 queues on both sides (!) and you could see your waiting position. I thought: "Man, so many people and teams, i feel like a dwarf."

First step of decline was the huge amount of too good premades, second was clearly Long Tom. Even our unit went away from FP, because there was no sense to play against premades with Long Tom on their side. And it was always on their side.

Also i remember that most good units were Clan and IS was totally filled up with beginners and noobs like we were too.

Funny thing is, today our unit is still in FP and we got a little bit better but we still get ***** from the same guys as before

I think I figured it out.

Go to your Steam -> Mechwarrior installation folder and copy all the contents inside (it'll include Bin64, Engine, Game, system.cfg, etc.,).

Now paste them inside the "Piranha Games -> MWO Public Test" folder.

Once that is done, go to the MWO Portal folder and run the MWO Portal.exe

When that launcher opens, click on the settings icon in the top left (3 horizontal bars) and select "Run MWO Repair Tool"

You should be set now. I'm in the process of doing it so I can't confirm whether it works or not. I'm basing the above steps on the fact that when I ran the Repair Tool, it said certain files were missing which were the files located in the MWO Steam folder. So, it started downloading all of those files into the MWO Test Folder. Based on that, I think what I suggested should bypass having to redownload the game from the net. I'll keep this updated once it finishes.

EDIT:-

Yep, that method worked. I can now see the "Play" button instead of "Patch" in the MWO PTS launcher. Unfortunately, I can't test it out right now as I'm at work and I have to wait a few more hours before I'm back home. Anyway, if anyone wants to know how to make the Steam version of MWO work with MWO PTS without having to redownload the game, then follow the above steps.

..and isnt it great? had such a blast yesterday bringing all the slow-***-assault stuff that I would never take to QP. playing Clan too much normally makes you forget how AWESOME and satisfying a double-hvy-gauss shot can be^^

PTS is hella fun. IS vs IS is giant, slow stompy robots slugging it out. TTK is longer, brawls are more frequent, it's worth jumping into for a good time.

PTS is up and running again. currently, we have more blue-gloves than pink-parrots. so if you wanna join in the fun and are still un-affiliated (everybody is when logging in first), pick the parrots.

I had a good time, even though I didn't play all that well at all. I should've used the free resources to buy new mechs and kit them 'cause my current mechs are mainly brawlers. Anyway, I chose Steiner, lost 3 and drew 1 (yes, drew a match at 35 kills each on Alpine). It was good fun. I picked the Marik reward.

I spent an afternoon trying to get the PTS working on my desktop and on my S.O.'s laptop..

Got it working on the laptop, but the bloody portal simply won't patch on my desktop..

Anyway, I got into the PTS on the laptop, only to wait half an hour for a match and give up..

So yeah.. :/

PGI has lots of things to fix first. I mean that Error-63 is just tiring to deal with.

Did you try copy-pasting the MWO installation folder into the MWO Update folder before running the Repair Tool? I have listed the steps involved so, next time, you shouldn't have problems. Try them and hopefully it'll work.

But yeah, the Error 63 was annoying as hell. The first 90 mins in the PTS was 1 match played, waiting time and Error 63.

I only had E63 once and that was after my last match of the day.

Also I don't had fitting mechs I had lots of fun with FP as there where less teams dropping it seamed. On time I had bigger teams to play again and where where stomped.
I don't know how FP will be as soon as it goes back to normal...maybe I will take a peak again.

Because you think i always have the same 12 guys with me or what?

There would be something wrong if casuals beat comps on regularly basis. If you play mixed groups there is no "getting better". But if you mean my personal performance, im fine, thx.
