Any suggestions on settings to further reduce particle effects? Once mechs start smoking late match, my fps really tanks by half or more.

That's what I figured, tried 3 (changing from 4) and the AC explosions still occur. I'm probably done messing with it - haha

Yeah, I think I mentioned earlier I had to strip all the entire physics/threads section. Blinding myself with premature explosions is not fun

I've tested this physics problem again.
The definitive solution is to remove the p_num_threads and sys_limit_phys_thread_count lines.

You can keep sys_job_system_max_worker=0.
This line tells the cryengine to use your number of logical cores for sys_job_system_max_worker.

The "job system" will not create more workers than your number of logical cores.
You don't need this line if you have less than 8 logical cores (8 is the default value).

Just played my first match with these tweaks, and it made a huge difference! I'd been not playing very much because the bolt-on system (or something else) really messed with my framerate - it's just preliminary, and I didn't make it to heavy combat, but the performance was notably better than my last few matches.

Now if only I could do something about the decline in player quality... But I digress.

Thanks for the tweaks, so far they helped a lot.

PS: I did get a prompt to run the repair tool when I patched the game, which I ignored - should this be happening?

I'm glad it helps you Posted Image

The repair tool detects if you replaced the .pak cache files with the empty ones i provide.

Those two files are optional. The improvement is not that big on my pc with the current tweaks. But i keep them if it helps some people.
If you run the repair tool, it will download the original files.

That's what I thought - I ignored the prompt and the game ran well. We'll see how it goes once I get into heavy combat.

Updoot, simply because this config tweak is excellent. I've got it pumped up to the max and it actually improves performance while giving me the ability to ratchet up the visual fidelity. Kudos to the creator.

I do have a request though, since you're digging around in the cryengine code, can you do a small mod that displays mechs in the shut-down posture inside the mechbay?

Thx for the Kudos :)
The cryengine code does not really matter for this kind of modification.
You would need to edit the mechlab level or the mechs idle animations which is not really allowed

Holy crap, great work MrVaad!

I've been using a user cfg for a while now, but yours is the most detailed and most explained I've seen out there. Thank you so much for creating that spreadsheet that goes over which Cvars are locked down as well.

I've been able to implement most of what you have in your cfg, with some items that I added in, and now I'm getting a steady 50 - 60fps now. It might go lower if I turn on shadows, but its still way more stable than what it was.

Is it cool if I share this, and maybe post it on my YouTube page? I'd like for more people to know about this.

Here is my current rig:
-ASUS B85M-E/CSM DDR3 1600 LGA 1150 Motherboard
-Intel Core i7-4790K Devil's Canyon Quad-Core 4.0 GHz
-Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB DDR3 1600 (PC3-12800) 240-Pin UDIMM Memory
-NVIDIA 1060 6GB
- Hard Drive Used For recording: Seagate 2TB FireCuda Gaming SSHDAlso,

here is the user.cfg that I am using now:

Thank you so much for this MrVaad (And also thanks to those who reported bugs). I got a Ryzen 3600 and a 1080TI, and it was unplayable at 4k due to the frame drops. Since upgrading from my 2500k the drops were even worse, don`t know why. Now it never drops below 60 and most of the time is more then double that. Wow, really, wow. If it wasn`t for you, I`d probably stop playing.

I just tried this out - the performance gain on my PC isn't huge, I run a Samsung PCIE SSD, a Ryzen 1700X and a Radeon VII. However, the game runs a lot smoother and the stutter at drop is gone now, which is fantastic. One question I have - since the best AA we'll ever get access to looks like MSAA, how do you tweak those settings so that it's more noticeable than just leaving AA off?

Also, sometimes I see

Setting_x=0

others, it's

Setting_x = 0

Which is correct?

The devs need to take a look at his settings and implement them in the game it works so well. Game was a stuttering mess for me and this cleared it right up.

Embarrassed to ask, where do we copy/paste the "user.cfg" to?
I'm running Win10 and MWO installed via Steam.

Put the cfg files at the root of your MechWarrior Online install directory (you should see game_version.dll in this directory). For Steam, it should be something like :
\Steam\steamapps\common\MechWarrior Online\

You should also copy the file tuning.cfg with user.cfg

Tuning.cfg will allow mwo to reload user.cfg before each maps. Else MWO will overwrite a few user.cfg settings when starting the game.

Hey MrVaad, many thanks for your help to get our Steam MWO installation user.cfg !

It seems to have worked, preventing my notebook computer from dropping to single-digit FPS (frames per seconds) during melee combat...

Thanks again!!
