Board game implementation

Another case where board game rules are bad for an action game.

That you think they should remove incoming missile warning is silly.

Nah it was fine when it wasn't implemented yet, but tier6 mechdads cried about lurms so much that it was added... kinda like that arrow that shows where your legs are "facing".

Nah it's fine how it is now. It's a mechanic that is common in games with lock on weapons and it exists in real life.

I'm glad you see that manual over ride on every overheat would be bad for an action game and negatively affect the lowest common denominator of the game.

This has been a productive discourse, I'm glad you finally understand how board game rules informing lore instead of the other way around is ultimately bad for the IP.

Immersion of what? What sort of experience are you trying to have that having an option to auto-override would disrupt? Does it significantly disrupt your immersion? Does other players using this option disrupt your immersion?
What would be cool is if you didn't have to smash the button everytime, automate that step so you don't have to remember.

Respect, you were clearly writing this from a place of honesty, however, I was not.

PGI introducing a feature for advanced players, who are a toxic, vocal minority on an island anyway? Psh, yeah right.

It's ok, I was once joyous too at the mention of "lore" and "immersion". Russ saying "Never say never" gave me hope. Seems like a lifetime ago.

See y'all in K-Town

Some of y'all are talking about immersion and lore while pressing O on a keyboard to override. I wonder if mechwarriors in canon told each other to "Press that W key!"

I'd love this option. Some people like throttle decay, others don't. Some people like a big white arrow transposed on the ground to show the direction of their legs. Why not give us the option to start matches with override on? Who does it hurt?

If i had to be brutally honest i survived more shut downs than override cooking . I actually remember to torso twist more while avoiding a shut down . Posted Image

Yes I agree. Battletech lore being bad because it is informed by arbitrary board game mechanics is beating a dead horse.

An option to start the match in override wouldn't break anyone's immersion.

Yes, you are correct. Boardgame rules applied to action games are the wrong way.

I'm glad we've reached this understanding.

Good players already hit the over ride leaving the dropship. But go on and tell us bads how terrible we are since you are clearly a dominant force in the game.

I see I have derailed your train of thought by finally getting through to you.

I'm glad you understand how lore informed by arbitrary board game mechanics is bad; and by extension how board game mechanics don't apply to action games.

Depends, do you hit override as soon as you drop?

Learn to build control panels on an iPad or other tablets that can be used on PC games. There, immersion increased. Posted Image
