I don't know what reason other than PGI desperate turn cash as MWO's in-game purchases aren't supporting cost running the place.
IF the company survives to the next year, i will think us to be lucky. I don't want a Battletech based game to die, but sure hell looks like it.

First one: Haven't really played before, so it will be new to me. As for the graphics, you are correct... but I hear the gameplay is a lot better.
Second: I'll have to check it out.
Third: Any recommendations for groups of people?
Fourth: For non-mech related I play Ghost Recon Wildlands and The Division
- Gameplay not bad, but not so many players right now. If you ask about mechanics - something between old and good MW3 and MW4 before expansion pack, all based on same old (older than MWO) Cryengine. Also, gameplay really skill-depended and you easy make angry true warriors for every mistake you do in play (at least that was about years ago). So all your MWO skill - useless in nearly 70% of.
Second - really like that. Really senseless control, many animation bugs vital to victory, sometimes really long waiting. On intense battle with many destructables - freezes and try overheat system. Also, work better on win10.
Really? I dunno... Many years play MWO as only one mech based online game just because there no alternatives with mech. All other games without mech - not so cool for me. And nearly don't play any non-mech games (except maybe car-battle).

Thanks for that comprehensive and short answer! I don't have a steam account, so I wondered if all the hate was just from (rightfully) salty steam players, but I guess it's not. Glad I didn't preorder!
I hate to give EA credit but even their Origin launcher, had more features and all around better launcher than the POS that epic launched. Even the c-tastic Microsoft windows 10 store is over all superior, and that has its app locked pretty tight.
Though I do wonder if Microsoft will have anything to say about this as it is likely they wanted to have Mechwarrior 5: Mercs on their storefront given that it is their licenced product.

I got my refund in less than 24h, I only sent a email from the same email I made the preorder, no extra info, I simply explained why I wanted a refund, in a kinda polite but firm way.

but does this mean that we will see it only on epic games? Because if I understand correctly the servers will be epic owned, instead of valve ones. Unless GoG, origin or Uplay are robust enough and able to ya know sell EPIC EXCLUSIVE games we are not seeing it anywhere else anytime soon.
I really dislike that these two fuckos, epic for its shady ********, valve for it's quiet indolence, just cant let us ******* buy the game on our platform of choice and pay the ******* game devolpers anyway.
hell if they did that then steam would HAVE to fix it's pay model!
If we get this game on other platforms I will buy the hell out of it. As it stands robbing me of my choice AFTER I bought the product is just a terrible experience to me.

EDIT/Update. I got an email this afternoon. Seems like there are just so many refunds being requested it's taking a while to get through them.

I haven’t either receive any response to my request as well even just to acknowledge that I requested my refund few days ago. I know it will take time to process the refund itself but at least tell me you received request.
I also noticed as well no response/comment from not one PGI staff or employee in regards to this epic announcement.
Someone check the back of the PGI office .... Russ is slipping out the back door with his bags packed and a plane ticket to China ... those bags have our Steam keys and refunds .... get the pitch forks ready !!!

To those that sent requests on Thursday, remember that PGI's support staff is most likely extremely small, and has to process each transaction individually, which isn't a super fast process. I used to work in customer service handling returns like this, so I know. So, most likely your request is just piled up on a bunch more. Plus, if people are sending angry emails or threats, then it is only going to make the process longer. Just be patient, I'm sure we will get responses soon.
To clarify, I also requested a refund because the blatant bait and switch tactic with the pre-orders and lack of mod support really bums me out.
Also, while this decision is really really, well, not good, remember that there are good people at PGI. Tina, Alex, Matt come to mind. I've met these people personally and I really don't think that they are inherently bad or wanting to cause us suffering. A lot of times decisions like these only depend on what the top wants to do, not what every employee wants to do. Just something to think about.

What is happening to game launchers is the same is what is happening with streaming services. It used to be only Netflix / Hulu / Amazon, but now Individual channel providers no longer want to pay a cut to the big services anymore and they launch their own streaming services. Soon, you will pay $15 / month for each individual channel you want to watch and you will be wishing for the days where you had, what you thought at the time, was an overpriced cable package that included 100s of channels for one price.

MechWarrior:Living Legends 2019 gameplay. Using Crysis engine I think. Did the quick wiki lookup on it. If MWO goes way of the Dodo bird well at least it’s an option to get my mech fix on ... I guess lol.

It's a good un. The devs occasionally hop on as well. One thing you should know: people don't like legging
