It's awesome that PGI is willing to hold up Mechwarrior. I really appreciate this attitude.

Even if I wasn't playing MWO for a long time I was following most news and I am...or better said I was interested in news about mechwarrior 5.

I also was waiting for the first in-game-videos (from regular players) so I could decide if I would buy it or not. (sorry PGI but because of past incidents I don't pre purchase any games you are involved with)

Sadly since I heared about this 'epic news' I came to a decision before I saw the first in-game-videos and I am really sorry to say so:

The decision is made. I won't purchase mechwarrior 5...but no. That's not really correct. I would purchase mechwarrior 5 if it wouldn't be in combination with an epic account.

So to be really clear about it.

1.) Mechwarrior 5...maybe (until I see the first in-game-videos)
2.) epic account. NO

So even if I would get a game package (be it as present as a gift or even as a demo version [yeah...old school, i know ^^ ] ) I wouldn't even install it as long as it has to be in combination with an epic account.

Judging by your knowledge of the english language, I totally understand that you don't see any threat here with the spyware from epic ...

Does anyone remember exactly when Russ mentioned MW5 being released on GoG? I could have sworn that was after April. Am I wrong?

April 10th AMA during question 1.

full refunds or not an epic games deal like this is about the scummiest thing you could have pulled particularly this late into it. There are other devs I expect this sort of thing from but this actually shocked me.

Don't give the bs about how it helped make a better game either. I'm sure if you needed extra funding you could have pulled it off from the community it was a cash grab plane and simple have the respect to be honest about it. Buisnesses are in the buisness of making mony thats okay but just be honest.

Wow. 35 pages and counting. And since I'm a lazy bugger - can I see anywhere how many people have requested a refund? Like a count-down timer from 100% and downwards?

This is a ******* disgrace. I've always defended PGI and MWO for their business model of new mechs and stuff, and I've bought A LOT of mechs. Siding with the cancer that is epic games in game distribution is just... pathetic. I've waited, what, almost 20 years for this game, and now I can't play it unless I install that 10cents chinese spyware which is epic games store? No, no, and no again. Very disappointed. The battletech community is small enough already, why are you driving people away? But i guess you got your dough, eh?

I'll give you a chance though. Probably noone will read this here, but still. Give steam keys to existing preorders, or if you don't want that, offer an own download/lobby that has nothing to do with epic games. MWO does not need to be launched through steam, does it? If you do announce that by, say, 25th of august, fine, we're good. Otherwise, I will refund, and get Cyberpunk from GoG. And in that case, I can already tell you, it's very likely I won't get anything for MWO ever again.

- Agree with said above, no need steam, if PGI can provide game trough own launcher only for per-ordered customers say... in month or two after selling in EGS - that would be nice. Only to per-orders, not for everyone. Like key for EGS and in same time key for own launcher. If it possible, I think many cancel their refund orders.

Our partnership with Epic Games store allows us the opportunity to make sure MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries meets our internal goal of creating the best MechWarrior game possible.

Did you use their upfront money to hire a different team of devs that can actually code games not just create art assets and do drunk live streams?

Even Im totally against us Nordic countries be any part of EU but instead have a Nordic Union with free trade deals with us and EU instead. I cant say I can complain that EU exist as a buffer against harmful practices from other countries/ regions, like what Epics doing, gambling and such. And other nonsense in general from certain other... countries. ( pro tip, name the three "greatest/ biggest" countries on the planet )

I'm just waiting for the next MWO event and sale. :D

Let's have it, PGI. The dog and cat thing is over. What's next?
I'd love to see mech packs on sale again. I have my eye on one of those old mech mastery bundles...

Enough of this negative BS. Back to mech on mech action for rewards!!

Microsoft really needs to redact the sub rights to this franchise they've allowed you. Hopefully this surge of refunds will be your final nail in the coffin.

Sorry but asinine thoughts about a nail in the coffin. Well as you get your PB&J from your mother in the basement, we will be playing MW - doesn't matter what platform to people that just want to play. And from what I have seen - and I have Steam - Epic's games are a weee bit higher quality.

You all realize that you are just down loading the game from Epic's launcher, YOU DO NOT PLAY THE GAME ON EPIC !
Unless you are doing co-op and even that can be done without Epic using per to pre, Once you down load it you can close or uninstall Epic's launcher. The game is solo play and need no internet connection. I think all hate is silly and a bit childish. Need I remind you all NO MC GAME HAS EVER LAUNCHED ON STEAM EVER !!! And if this game fails all of us die hard fans and the future ones all lose as NO ONE will do this game again. I have been playing MC since THE Original MechWarrior PC game, And have waited far to Long for a new one. And for those winning about Epic, Steam and Microsoft when they started out was no better And in some things way worse even to this day.( I looking at you Microsoft / windows ) And Sony is just as bad. Both Sony and Microsoft Make you pay for internet connection TWICE ! and this is what you want to wine about . I will judge the game on the game itself when it comes out and not on some Launcher I will only use to down load the game from and never use again .

Whoa there turbo, too much sensibility.

You have hit the nail with the second part about die hard fans. It has been 20 years since the last MW. Between toxic communities and legal battles, the whole BT IP is a mess. No one wanted to, or could do it for 20 years, and it will likely be a long time until we see something else.

I'll enjoy whatever we get- I'm just glad it is single player and I won't have to deal with in games comms being drowned out by people whinning like at the moment in some matches.

- Actually, seems that team from Epic itself with some documentation for UE4.

- They said - other platforms/distributors... but nothing about own store and launcher. They are authors and developers of game. It's not some "other" platform... it's their own launcher.

For the first time I am very glad I did not have the funds to pre-order a game in time.

Though I'll probably miss the exclusives in MWO. Been playing off and on since the closed beta.

I just think it so funny to listen to all the crap about Epic when All the ones I mentioned do the same If not worse business practices. Are you all going to protest buying from them ? I mean Sony alone had a but load of user accounts stolen because they did not want to spend money on internet security. AND Knew this it could happen and did Nothing .And I don't think I need to remind you all about the other two They are Legends when it comes to that stuff.

Well, well.
I got some free stuff for MWO which irregardless of how PGI behaves is a game I enjoy.
By the time I get MW5 it might be patched up a bit and a few good mods will hopefully be made already.
I've waited for this game for a good while. I can wait another 15 months. No problem.

Not happy about it though. First time I've ever refunded a preorder.
PGI took my refundginity :(
