Here's something to think about concerning Tencent, which has 40% ownership in Epic. Tencent also has ownership stake in the American motion picture industry, and apparently forced Paramount to remove the Japanese and Taiwanese flags from Maverick's leather jacket in the new Top Gun film. Just saying that there's precedent for political interference by Tencent in its financed projects, despite what Sweeney at Epic may claim.

Soooo...how would the Capellans play with Tencent and the Chinese government?

I didn't need a reason to hate Tencent more but I have one now.

I hear you, but Battletech is quite a decent game and far from RIP. Don't mix the franchises please. ^^

Yes, HBS knows what their fanbase wants.

you know, i never had much respect for Bullock but this takes the cake, if what Sidalpha says is correct then,

They signed the agreement to go Epic exclusive in APRIL. They still ran the preorder sales for Steam etc and even NOW still have not sent an email out to all the preorder backers that they gone Epic exclusive..

Note the refund can take up to 10 working days to process but you only have until Sept 1 to request a refund and apparently they intended to announce the Epic exclusivity at Gamescom which is August 24-26...

They fully intended to keep this from the pre orders until it was too late .

I emailed them Thursday night and haven't heard anything either. Are people getting some sort of response to their refund request emails prior to getting the refund?

If true, then I would say this was definitely a bait and switch. I've seen responses in threads trying to explain that it wasn't but if Russ has known for that long (or longer if I heard SidAlpha right), it most definitely is.

I just submitted a refund request. I know that they were prepared for mass refunds and that it will not hurt them, but it was a gift to begin with. Now my girlfriend and I can go out and enjoy a nice meal at a great restaurant. That's a win in my book.

Shame on you PGI. Your business practices are despicable.

Well, here's a good summary of why people are NOT happy ....

SidAlpha may be a lot of followers for a youtube channel in gaming...i guess...no wait he isn't even that. So... minor youtube personality who's videos don't particularly influence a great many people, and who's whole schtick is to complain about the activities of other companies... puts up...you guessed it...a a video complaining about Russ and PGI and the move to epic. Imagine my lack of surprise.

PGI apologist who has no idea what hes talking about... "some great speech" indeed. First thing he says is that PGI might have a point in reaching a bigger audience on the epic game store... well about that:

How will the decision to go with epic store exclusively mean that they will "reach a bigger audience" then releasing on steam, gog, EGS and perhaps their own website combined?

Especially when EGS has only 85 million "registered" users (most of them from fortnite) compared to steams 90 million ACTIVE users?

As has been pointed out previously... STEAM's website is crowded with a lot of game titles and their own search algorithms tend to SUCK if you're looking for a quick link to a particular type of game, even if you've heard its on steam. Epic's website isn't yet at that state of the user being burdened by having to sort through thousands of game titles.

If you go to the Epic website on the main page, scroll down the list to "coming soon" and Mechwarrior 5 is right there top of that section.

https://www.epicgame...hwarrior-5/home

If you go to the steam store, if you just go by what's being played... they have 1125 pages of games currently being played when I looked. If you're someone new to mechwarrior... and battletech... but you like mecha games, as the genre is commonly known as, because of mecha being the widely accepted generic term from japanese animation... well guess what... Mechwarrior Online isn't listed at all then, and there are 7 pages of games that turn up in the search for the word Mecha.

If you look at the steam chart for mechwarrior online...when the game launched on steam in December 2015 there were a lot of players...but then by June 2016 that number had basically halved from where it was at the start. And that's because by that time, mechwarrior wasn't a "trending and popular" game on steam any longer, and it was being buried further and further down in the game lists that new players using the steam store were seeing.

Feeling pretty good about not ordering now.

If they're willing to lie for so long about something so critical as what platform the game will be on, what else will they be willing to lie about in terms of actual gameplay, amount of content, post release, and so forth?

When someone tells you who they are, believe them the first time.

agree. I expect a great crap of unfinished AI and dump as fu...k Enemys. Useless Campaign, buildings who colaps on a small touch and many, many more. Do you guys remember what they promised us for faction play? Thats what you can expect!

And thats the reason why they went to EPIC: i expect they give them money without selling anything. Just for bringing Steam more under preasure.

PGI: you are absolutly on a level with Blizzard. And yes, this is a BIG out of season April fool Joke! I am maximum disapointed about you! Not any single more Cent you will see from me!

I'm enjoying reading salty tears from all the folks who are "i'm uninstalling mwo" as the essential gist of their rant, and you look them up on jarl's and either they're potatoes who shouldn't be playing at all as it was (as they're likely driving away more people from the game by just taking up space in matches than anything PGI is doing), or they're potatoes who barely played at all as it was. Because their comment and opinion apparently matters when they're ranked in the 30-60% range, or they've played a mighty 500 matches in 3 years...

I sent an email asking to refund my Whale edition pre-order on the 25th. As of tonight the full amount has been refunded to me with no difficulty or hassle. I am just dropping by to let all the pilots waiting on a refund know that the process appears to work.

Good Luck and Have Fun everyone.

I take breaks from MWO quite a bit and I am not uninstalling MWO as a protest. I am only slightly more of a "potato" than you but I can't play 24/7 to get to tier 1. I will see you in Quickplay, unless you only play in groups.

Also, I sent an email to cancel my refund request. Yes, I got a bit emotional since I have used Steam since it came out, but I already use the Epic Launcher for Dauntless and I love the MECHWARRIOR IP, so I will stick with it.

I told TTB to check the video from SidAlpha. That´s his response.

So disappointed by TTB. Seems he is okay how Russ is treating the community, how he is lying, not informing the preorderers by email, ignoring and baning people who ask uncomfortable questions. All okay with him.
If that´s his opinion about the situation, SidAlpha is bad, cause he is a professional at ranting. And PGI and Russ are good, cause they give us MW5, so we ignore the fact about the lies and incompetence ...
Used to be a fan of TTB, not anymore.

You are wrong. He didn´t upload a video "complaining about Russ".
He uploaded a video showing FACTS about how Russ lied to us.
If you don´t get the difference between someones opinion and someone showing you facts ...

Epic exclusive eh, time to set sail. You got that exclusive money already after all, no need for mine anymore.

Exclusive are cancer to the pc industry. Instead of making their store better for the consumer they just hold content hostage. Well guess what, I dont negociate with terrorist.

And yeah I hate that I had to make a steam account to play my games legally when it used to be buy game play it no middle man to spy on you. Now I just use gog or I dont buy. My time is limited anyway I dont need many games.

You all realize that you are just down loading the game from Epic's launcher, YOU DO NOT PLAY THE GAME ON EPIC !
I know, I know, we wouldn't be f***ing the festering corpse, just giving it a french kiss.
... what, you wouldn't do either? Well, maybe with that thoroughly disgusting analogy you will understand our view on Epic.

Quote

Unless you are doing co-op and even that can be done without Epic using per to pre, Once you down load it you can close or uninstall Epic's launcher. The game is solo play and need no internet connection.
According to a guy who misled us all of us about the game multiple times. If he is wrong about this, you won't find out until it's too late to refund.

Quote

Need I remind you all NO MC GAME HAS EVER LAUNCHED ON STEAM EVER !!!
Because all games released in the series so far predated Steam's existence. You have no point.

- They said - other platforms/distributors... but nothing about own store and launcher. They are authors and developers of game. It's not some "other" platform... it's their own launcher.
It's an "other" platform from Epic and therefore is included by definition. But if you hope otherwise then go on... ask them yourself and share the answer with the rest of us. Just don't say I didn't warn you.

I just think it so funny to listen to all the crap about Epic when All the ones I mentioned do the same If not worse business practices. Are you all going to protest buying from them ?
Many of us haven't locked ourselves into their console ecosystems and (such as myself) warn people against it... so yes, we do protest it.

View PostTimberjac, on 27 July 2019 - 05:00 PM, said:

But… If I dont want any refund and I wish go ahead with my old purchase…. I hope dont have buy anything to EPIC.
Tough luck, it doesn't look like PGI plans to honor your old purchase on its' original terms.

View PostPetrothian Tong, on 27 July 2019 - 05:04 PM, said:

Sorry PGI, is just not working out. I will wait for it to come on steam when all the hype died down and I won't feel compelled to buy it at full price.
Wait until it's in a Humble Bundle. Then you can set the developer's take to zero.

View PostOmegasys, on 27 July 2019 - 07:10 PM, said:

You're gonna make me wait to play the game on steam, as I was told I would get it there when I bought it, unless I install a client I don't want to by a company I don't support?
Again, I asked them about this and their response isn't "wait", it's "if you want it on Steam then buy it again on Steam, without the preorder stuff you paid for":

Puts up a video documenting the current situation, then in the later part of his video expressing his opinion.

Don't worry, Dee - Jim Sterling routinely covers Epic exclusives too. Give him a couple days and this will blow up even further.

its not like you are a posterboy for talking down on other people at your 82%.
which likely also comes from piloting the top ez mode mechs.

also, too many people know about the failures of PGI and are sick of it as well as getting lied to the face or baited like it happened now, if everything went as planned for PGI they wouldnt even have to refund a single thing which should be a shame themselves.
its a culmination of everything that PGI did wrong in the past months.
too happy that the FAQ got leaked like that, gotta give props to that guy who did it.

Because of the epic decision I am Informing you I will not purchase this product and dont think I can support this company any more because of the shifty and criminal actions of the company's CEO towards his customers that found willingly and bankroll the projects that would be other wise not even possible.

This game and your jobs exist because of the idiots that throw money at you and you and your "skill" would be not even noticed by anyone or even bank rolled by any bank.

Crown funding was a mistake.
The wrong kind of people get a chance.
