You can see an Atlas firing a single shot AC in this same video at the beginning with a nice animation of a barrel recoil

Yeah that looks like a different kind of AC20. Burst fire AC 20, never heard of that one before, but then again, I'm not an expert in Battletech lore.
AC.20s are a class rating of autocannon. There's nothing in the lore that says they're all built identically and work the same way. Given that armor in battletech is ablative in nature, whether an autocannon fires a burst of smaller shells or even just one big large shell, does not matter, to do the job of whatever its damage rating is. I went into this in another thread a few weeks ago, but the real world equivalent today is comparing the swedish 57mm Bofors Mk2/3 gun as used for example on the Canadian Halifax Frigates and the American Freedom & Independence class LCS to the italian 76mm Otomatic Rapide gun as used on the American Oliver Hazard Perry Class frigates. The 57mm has a much higher rate of fire and throws virtually the same weight of shells over a given space of time as the 76mm can do.

They made the distinction of this AC/20 for the Atlas being a burst fire model.
Older screenshots show a Jagermech with full auto ACs (judging by the stream of large AC shells ejecting from the mech's arms)
Though looking back on it, they could still be burst fire since there's some space between groups of shells.
In one of the AMAs they said it would be possible to get different variations of the weapons from different manufacturers.
One 'brand' of AC might be single shot, another might be burst.
Thought that was a nice touch.

IIRC that was changed but I am not certain how as we see different manufacturers during the video in the weapon info screens that pop up.

Now it's level 5 burst ac/20, level 1 single shot ac/5,...
Though I havent updated my threads on it I'm well on my way doing the pre-planning and organizing for my lore-rooted weapons mod which is part of my battletech sim overhaul of mw5. So we'll have those brand name weapons true to source material including the Crusher Super Heavy Cannon (ac/20 artillery piece), chemjet gun (a charge up chemical injection ac/20 with high powered rounds that can be fired directly or indirectly), Defiance Mech Hunter (high caliber high impact semi-auto ac/20), etc. (And not just acs, everything from MGs to lasers to missiles. Just gonna be weird to get used to red and yellow medium lasers, green large lasers and blue small lasers...)

Also as a fun thought, this rotary barrel weapon is a LBX-10 variant predating the rotary autocannon by be hundreds of years, and similar lbx-2 models exist before reaching the 3100s.

So imagine the nice touch and variety you'll see when I'm done.

That sounds like an amazing mod. I'll install it as soon as you're done with it. I'd love to go MORE towards the Lore and TT configs, rather than further away, and I really wish they'd kept the MWO Mechlab setup, because it's the closest to TT since MW2 and MW3.
The more I think about their "limited 'mechlab", and argue with people about it, the more I think about how a Centurion is a Centurion is a Centurion. It just takes more or less time, effort, and cost to modify, depending on the configuration you're trying to get to, and that modification cost is weighed against your ability to pay for it (which makes a 6 mil CB modification tough if you only make $10k CB per mission, or 100k CB per year). Equipment scarcity also adds to the design considerations and complexity. For example: the BL-7-KNT-L is a "Marik" modification (no good explanations for the "L"), replacing the PPC with a large laser because they didn't have any PPCs available. The MAD-3L is literally a case of "one of the PPCs got destroyed, so replace it with a Large Laser", and the other PPC is still in place... (I used to really like the idea: force people to stick to the lore. But the fun in MW3 was having to make due with the salvage you could find, and having to replace destroyed weapons and weapons without ammo with whatever you could scrounge, and that only works if you can replace an autocannon with a laser).
I really hope that this game honestly incorporates everything that was in that video linked earlier. I came to MWO after that dream was abandoned, but now that I realize they were promising all that, it breaks my heart that they abandoned it, because if they hadn't, MWO would still be a thriving community. I really like the sim experience, and the lack of that is one of the biggest things wrong with MWO.
