My old boss did such a fine business maneuver some years back
trying to push clients from one place to another.
Actually backfired and lost his main clients.
Cant wait to see how this PGI little mind game will turn out.

Russ already did that.
It was called Long Tom... It's nuked the population well and good. 1,000s of players quit because of nothing other than stubbornness.

I was here when the long tom came.
Loved it.
Made scouting useful ,, even though hated it still.
Made the game fun for me, however can see how many would rather not drop against it.
PGI dont to solve problems man, they delete them or ... nerf them ..
That is why mwo is such a mess.

Agreed, refusal to fix/remove long tom was probably one of the biggest single causes of player loss in the history of MWO; far worse than stuff like the engine desync and those clan "balance passes".
Ruining FP removed the fun in the endgame and thus the point of playing for serious/dedicated players who wanted more than qp, and those were the players that bought all the new mechs for their drop decks. Deck construction is why so many people bought/buy chassis.

Most of the people i did enjoy dropping with left due other reasons.
I did love it cause it made the game difficult and made everybody paranoid out of their mind
where the purple smoke is .
It was just exiting to me.

The sky cancer timer wrecked any sense of tactics beyond a forced "scatter" every 2 minutes for the unfortunate side.
The evolved tactic involved things like gate jumping and pairs of small mechs drawing the smoke onto the opfor instead... long tom mvp... (off table death arty was no way to die after queuing)
Neither was good for the mode.

Was is good or bad ,, maybe it is irrelevant now.
Still would rather drop 4 hours against long tom and attacking vs a 12 man
then do one scout game.

Would be cool to actually see FP Invasion drops with one side having actually earned the scouting rewards, making a faction perhaps focus a little on scouting to actually stop their opponent from having an advantage.
