Hahahahahahaha!
You think they're working?
1 - They don't work weekends.
2 - It's too late to fix any bugs before launch without proper testing to ensure they're actually fixed and check they haven't introduce any new ones (actually, that might happen).
3 - Russ hasn't tweeted anything today, there's 3 days to launch and he's gone silent.
4 - They need to upload the latest build to the Epic servers 24hrs before release to ensure propagation across the network prior to launch.
5 - PGI...
6 - They most likely had a pre-launch party to celebrate finishing the project this weekend.

Reason #5 is the one that matters most.

It is not as if those challenges are different or work-intensive on the PGI's side.
Just a simple copy-paste job. It has been always the same: Do 1000, 2000, 3000 damage. Kill 10, 20, 30 enemy 'Mechs, Get 10, 20, 30 assists. Just use some kind of a saved template. The only thing that actually changes is the date of challenge.
I guess that the most difficult part for PGI is coming with some unused title for such challenge.

You are completely clueless.
Have you ever worked for a company/development team that had to release a big code at a predefined deadline?
Work is NEVER done until the very last minute and even that includes some prioritizing of tasks that you decide not to do because you don’t have the time. Even if this deadline is postponed by another 3 months you’d still work till the very last minute.

That said, why no event? Maybe they're planning a big one for the release? Maybe they're busy? Whatever it is, it's one less reason to play.
That remark about increased payouts up there is spot on also, we're in end of life, soften the grind eh? There are hundreds of mechs left to try for most people, expenditure rises to meet income and all that.

Pretty much. I'm actually very low on C-bills to outfit mechs and skill them at the same time. I've buying stuff like GSP, Mech packs and MC to soften the grind but the reason to play has been the events.

absolutely correct. PGI doesn't give a damn about MWO anymore. hell, I've sent in a few support tickets lately that have gone completely ignored other than the canned, automated response. Just tells me that PGI is not going to spend one more second of time or one more penny on MWO, its no longer in "maintenance mode" its been completely abandoned.
